What did YOU do today?

Well, turned out I got a barium enema so they could check every inch of my intestine.

If your doc ever says you are getting one, tell them no thanks and you are leaving.

That was probably the worst thing I have ever had done.

Worse then wisdom teeth all being pulled at the same sitting, worse than skin cancer removal multiple times, worse then being in the ICU with covid for 11 days, worse than rolling your ankle and being in a boot for 6 months, worse then accidentally hitting yourself in the mouth with a 1 1/2" wrench while breaking a nut free, worse then accidentally grabbing the blade side of the sawzall with one hand and the trigger with the other. worse than anything I have ever had done.

It was not terribly painful but you get no anesthesia and you are awake the whole time because they have to ask how much air you can get pumped into your stomach till it's uncomfortable after they pump all the barium into your intestine. Then they have you laying in a table and roll you up and down, side to side, feet over head to get the barium into every crevice of your intestine. Next, you have to lay a bunch of weird ways, with a hose still in you while they take pics. Then after about 15 pics from every angle, they deflate the balloon holding the hose in your butt and drain what they can and then tell you to hit the restroom and drain for a while.

But the air they pumped into you doesn't drain so you feel like you are having stomach cramps and want to throw up until the air finally comes out. That's a long time because of how horrible you feel. They do give you a barf bag though so you can go home

Wow. I feel for you. Well, maybe “feel” isn’t the right word for this kind of thing. I empathize with you.

You all know me. I hear something, and it reminds me about a story in my life, and then I relate the story with a little color. And I don’t know if you ever noticed, but I can be a little long-winded sometimes. With all my medical problems, I’m going to hold off on this one. I also don’t want to think about it all. I want to think forward positive and thankful.

That brings me to another thought. Different people take these things different ways, and they feel differently about them….

….so, what did the technician look like, and can I get their phone number?

Having a bunch of inventory is nice... but it ties up a bunch of dollars for things you may not need for weeks or even a year.

Sometimes that money is better spent on reliable transportation or a home... or maybe a garage... improvements to property.

Not trying to bust anyone's balls... but life is full of priorities.
Material inventory that I use for work has mostly been paid for by work I’ve already done. If I need 30# of a particular nail between two jobs, the cost that it would have been to buy 5# boxes for that typically pays for a 50# box. So the remaining 20# sitting in inventory was essentially paid for. I also only do that sort of bulk buy on things that have a frequent turnover, I don’t have the space to store 20# of something that will take me 20 years to use up.

Welding wire inventory, well, I’ve already used about 15# of welding wire this year. Last year I used over 30#. I have no problem bulk buying for frequent use when I can save money buying bulk. Same reason I typically buy full lengths of steel, if it’s a size I frequently use, it’s cheaper. It doesn’t work for everyone though, but even in different circumstances I’d want at least one full spool of welding wire inventory inventory just because you always seem to run out at the wrong time where getting more isn’t just a quick run to the store. My luck if I tried to cut things too close would be when something critical needs fixed for Monday and it’s 9pm on a Saturday when I run out of something that isn’t available until Monday at 9am.

So, with the winds yesterday we lost power for a couple hours and internet from like 5pm till just a little bit ago. Fun times. Probably gonna eat some lunch and make a run for more steel, then back to the shop project.

And today my wife, I, my son's girlfriend, and her dad moved all their stuff to a storage unit and the needed stuff to our little cabin in the backyard (12x24 foot shed we finished the interior to be a one bedroom for people to stay in).

She finished her bachelor's and her grandparents don't pay for her stuff while she is out of school so they needed to move.

So, they now live with us and we are trying to get my youngest son to pick something for school so we can send him now.

I just watched President Trump unveil and place in action the new Air Force One 747. Officially designated “VC25-B Bridge.” It’s the freebie we got as a gift from Qatar, that has been modified with the presidential security and communications. It has the new red white and blue paint scheme. The “bridge“ in the designation is because it is an interim aircraft until the two new Air Force ones, “VC 25 – B” ordered a few years ago arrive in 2028. It’s 19 or 20 feet longer, than the existing Air Force ones, and it has the full length upper deck. It has a substantially increased fuel capacity and distance ability requiring far fewer stops for fuel or in flight fueling.

What did YOU do today?

Too cool! Way too cool! God bless America!

Nice! I really like those 747s versus the smaller planes. That upper area is very nice

I believe it will sit in the Trump Presidential Library when it's completed.
