I just replaced the cylinder head on my 97 2.3l ford ranger after having issues with recessed valves severely decreasing performance and causing bad misfires. It now runs great however I noticed after having driven it a few hours I shut it down and started it cold it had a ticking noise coming from the head for a few minutes until I revved it using the throttle control cable . I’m thinking it’s lifter tick and I’m just wondering if this is normal or if I should do anything about it? It runs great other than the tick for the first few minutes after cold start.

These are known to have somewhat loud valvetrain... if it really bugs you at one point I read about putting dimes under the lash adjusters for a little extra preload, did that for a while but it didn't change anything for me so next time I was in there I took them out...
