Okay so my truck has recently had a lot of issues that i have since fixed it has:

All new vaccum lines

new fuel and air filters

new in tank fuel pump

fresh gas

spark plugs/wires

distributor cap/rotor

I have good compression 150psi on each cylinder

but when I drive it sucks, NO power. When I start the truck its fine normal power and only a slight hesitation when you rev it, for about a minute then its horrible. Also if I hold the revs at what should be ~1500 it goes up and down from 1300-1600, will do that no matter where I'm holding the pedal but idles totally normal at 900

If I take it up high in the rpm before the shift it sputters and backfires for a minute and i have to take it out of gear. but other than that it just has no power.

also after driving if i stand right by the drivers door I can smell gas. but there are no leaks, the tank isn't leaking either as I had the bed off to change the pump and checked about 5 times.

I've done sooo much work to this truck I just want it running good again! Sorry for the long post! And its an 88 2.3 5spd

did you do the vacuum lines yourself? are you positive you put everything back right? have you ckecked the fuel lines? they may have a leak.
