alright well i just did head work and now that ive replaced the timing belt tensioner and belt....it seems to be working off....to a point and thats it...so far like a 1/8 or 1/16 of in is hanging off the camshaft pully

Working off which way, front or back. Did you put the flange washer back on the outside of the crank sprocket.? This washer keeps the belt from walking. There is also a flange washer that goes behind the cam sprocket for the same reason. These washers must be in place. shady

yes i put the washer back on the front side....it pretty much rides against it the whole time...and the on the camshaft pully it rides all the way forward on the sprocket...little over hang...seems to just be chilling their for the last 150 miles...should be fine from what i would think....your two sense?

As long as the washers are in place it shouldn't move anywhere...or much...

Did you make sure you had the right belt...as in square or round tooth?

Mine always run towards the back. and that's where the washer belongs.

Mine actually goes nowhere...washer is on the back...but the belt has never moved forward or back...that's why I was thinking maybe the wrong belt or something else that may be out of alignment...

This may sound stupid ,but I had a Shovelhead with an open belt primary that the belt used to walk off of. I figured out that it was a continuous stranded belt and I had it backwards. If it is one of these stranded belts you might want to try flipping it over.
