I know that the 2.0l out the pinto use to be a really common kit car motor and sandrail motor, they also use to build the crap out of those motors. Since i have a 2.0l pinto motor in my truck i'm really wanting to build an old school High performance 2.0l build.

Anybody know any site that have info on building a 2.0l or if there where any books that had tips and recipes for performance buids.

I knwo most people say just put a 2.3t but its hard to finda 2.3t around here and i dont see any reason why i cant build a fun n/a 2.0l, they use these motors in rallies all over the world granted theyre in lighter cars but that should say something

cant find much on 2.0's, but there plenty of 2.3 preformance info, the 2.0 and 2.3 are very close so alot of info would apply to the 2.0

Well im hoping some of the older guys will chip in, cause although i'm not having much luck find newer parts i know in the 70s and 80s the 2.0l was a popular motor for dune buggies and some hot rods, its also the standard motor in a lot of rallies in england

Thats what i'm talking about! Need MOOAARRR! I have also heard of some dirt track racers that build the 2.3l to 500hp+, not that i want to go that extensive with it i might be able to incorporate some of there stuff into mine.

I hope you r not thinking the ranger 2.0 is the same as the pinto engine?
A ranger 2.0 is a small bore 2.3.
you can put a cam and bigger carb on it as well as better flowing exhaust. u can mill the head for more compression.
install a head off a 2.3 it has bigger valves.also port the head.
I have done a cam, carb, and exhaust on mine and it helped but it ain't no race engine.
Good luck and have fun

i was told the owner before the guy i got it from pulled the original and put a pinto motor in it. dont know the differences but i have no reason to believe its not true

ima keep an eye on this build, im thinking of mabey getting a 2.3/2.5 lima and rebuilt it on the side to have an extra motor kickin around to minimize downtime.

The Pinto never had a Lima 2.0 engine. The last 2.0 Pinto engine was made in Germany, and had a significantly narrower head than the Lima. The Ranger was fitted with a 2.0 based on the Lima 2.3, with the only difference being the displacement. Externally, they cannot be told apart. BUT, they were never installed in Pintos. To my knowledge.
There may be significant differences over time with the intake manifolds and the shape of the intake ports. If you plan to swap parts, be aware they will not all fit...

Another performance source is Esslingerracing.com ...

what motor you actually now have

i was told the owner before the guy i got it from pulled the original and put a pinto motor in it. dont know the differences but i have no reason to believe its not true

You might try to to determine what Pinto motor you DO have...it may actually be a 2.3...

as others have said the early Pinto 2.0 was not the same as a 2.0 Ranger motor..
