Yep...my first Ranger was a regular cab...I'm 6'6" tall and was able to drive it with the bench seat...and it was a 5 speed...my left knee learned not to whack the steering wheel when shifting through a lot of practice (about 200,000 Km) and my right foot adapted to the angles that I had to assume to keep highway speeds and was mostly responsive when I had to do some fancy braking to avoid other vehicles...sometimes my leg would go to sleep on long drives and I'd have to shift my butt a few inches, drag the sleeping limb up wth my right hand and use my left foot to operate the gas and brake...but that was rare...
You might fare better depending on whether your height is in your legs or your back...mine is about equal...if you have long legs then it may be a bit of a pain...
I eventually cut the back wall out of my first Ranger and drove it for about six months before the motor died...and that's when I moved on to the extended cab and never looked back...
A friend had a 97 regular cab for sale and I test drove it...felt like I had claustrophobia...so I had to pass on it...there seemed to be less adjustment on the buckets than I had on my bench seat in the original 88..
Only thing I would suggest is test drive one...even go into a dealership and try them out...no harm in doing that...even if you can't afford one...lol
