hey yall , and yes i know this question may be hard for anyone to answer , but i figured i'd ask anyway , how much leg and head room is there in a 1st gen 1983-1992 regular cab ranger with a stock bench seat , compared to a extra cab ranger with a bench seat ? , the reason for asking is i have only owned extra cabs in the past and would like to maybe look into getting a reg cab , i'm 6'4'' tall and have plenty of room in a extra cab , just don't need that back seat area that a extra cab has , thanks for any advise

Get in your super cab. Slide your seat almost all the way forward, tilt the back so its straight up. That about all the room you have. :D

Yep...my first Ranger was a regular cab...I'm 6'6" tall and was able to drive it with the bench seat...and it was a 5 speed...my left knee learned not to whack the steering wheel when shifting through a lot of practice (about 200,000 Km) and my right foot adapted to the angles that I had to assume to keep highway speeds and was mostly responsive when I had to do some fancy braking to avoid other vehicles...sometimes my leg would go to sleep on long drives and I'd have to shift my butt a few inches, drag the sleeping limb up wth my right hand and use my left foot to operate the gas and brake...but that was rare...

You might fare better depending on whether your height is in your legs or your back...mine is about equal...if you have long legs then it may be a bit of a pain...

I eventually cut the back wall out of my first Ranger and drove it for about six months before the motor died...and that's when I moved on to the extended cab and never looked back...

A friend had a 97 regular cab for sale and I test drove it...felt like I had claustrophobia...so I had to pass on it...there seemed to be less adjustment on the buckets than I had on my bench seat in the original 88..

Only thing I would suggest is test drive one...even go into a dealership and try them out...no harm in doing that...even if you can't afford one...lol

im 6'4, its tight but not unbearable. i owned 3 ext. cabs before i bought my reg. cab and i prefer the comfort of the ext cab but love the looks of the reg. cabs.
If it was my DD or for long drives i would get an ext. cab but for a toy, Reg. cab FTW

thanks for the reply , yesterday i went to a junk yard that has a 1987 regular cab automatic transmission 4x4 ranger , it was pretty much rotted out , and had a 60/40 bench , so i tryed getting in and out of it and check for leg and head room , it was a bit tight compared to a extra cab , but not bad , i had enough leg room , but very little head room so if i get a reg cab i'll probably throw a set of low sitting buckets in , but i still will probably test drive a few different brands and models of vehicles before buying anything , i've herd that dodge dakotas are suppost to be a bit bigger then a s10 or ranger , but i don't really know much about dodges , thanks for the reply
