So I've been working on getting my new 83 cleaned up inside. One of the plans was to fix non functional e break pedal. Once I got the dash out and could get a good look at it. I realized it was unsalvageable, I then looked at my parts 83, and same deal the rust had gone too far. It appears ford never coated the actual body of the assembly, just the pedal arm. Luckily my parts 85 did have a operational assembly, however another couple of years of neglect would have seen the same end. So today I got it removed, wire wheeled and coated in rust reformer. Once everything was dry and reinstalled in my truck, i made sure to soak all pivot points with oil than white lithium grease. I would suggest if you havent looked at yours in awhile but it still works, I'd make sure to do something to keep time from taking its toll even a twice yearly spray down with an oil of sorts would help.
