1999 Ford Ranger Solid Axle Swap

man i wish there was some video of what my ranger did today so everyone could just see what this thing did. its still 2WD so i took it up to the mountains today with the intention with some light wheeling just to see how the thing works. what i ended up doing was far from "light".
i started off being nice to it until a really long, really steep hill came up, i originally was going to turn around at this point so i didnt **** anything up, but the i thought to myself, "ah **** it, i just need a little speed"
so i floored it and was going at least 20mph bouncing from side to side on the trail, bouncing my front end up the air, and all around romping the shit out of the ranger. i was in total disbelief when i got to the top and finally took my foot off the floor! if i didnt break any of my welds doing what i did, then im pretty sure i got nothing to worry about!

gangster lean...

i went to fix the leaking brake line fitting today, but the flare is the one that it came with, not even one i did, so its perfect, and still leaking. i think it must be the threads coming off my master cylinder. i put some thread locker on the fitting for now to see if that does anything. its drips were going all over my shock. the brake fluid "ate" through 2 bushings, one last week and one today. im really sick of replacing bushings already so i really hope i fixed it with that thread locker.

i dont think that how much i beat the shit out of my truck today helped this situation much:

So why isnt the front shaft hooked up again?

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
i need some $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
so as soon as financially possible

Haha, least you can say your truck gets wheeled... even in 2WD!

You still have the stock electric bw1354? If you do swap it out for a manual bw1354. I swapped mine out and the front drive shaft hooks up. All I had to do was buy a conversion u-joint. It was $22 for the u-joint at napa. I got my manual t-case, driveshaft, and rear trans housing for $75 at the junk yard. Didnt even have to mod my trans crossmember.
The drive shaft on the manual case is a dual cardone(I think thats how its spelled) with a slip yoke on the end. The electric is that crappy solid one piece .

Thats weird.... Mine is a CV style with a slip yoke at the end. Maybe because its a 94 :dunno:

The transfer case came off of a 1996 or 1997 mazda. I think I have some pics of it in my build thread.

parts in montana are way more expensive, the junkyard has a manual t-case i could get for $200

is that including the shifter and linkage?

no thats for the t-case only, i didnt even bother finding out about the other stuff when i heard how much just that was

Dang! I can get a t-case here for$100 including HST, stupid government and their taxes. :annoyed:

The T-Cases out here are 200 bucks each too. I said forget it. I'm keeping the electric one until I can afford $2300 for the whats going to replace it ;)

montana has no sales tax, i think its just the fact that there are a lot more old ford parts laying around in the mid west than there are here. man i wish i could get all that for $100...

i just went outside to check on how much brake fluid ive lost lately and my thread locker worked!!! its all dry and the master cylinder is finally staying full!!! now i just need a seal for my 9 inch and ill be good on leaks for now.

next on the list is to get my driveshaft lengthened which i want to do next week.

after that i plan on getting (at least) new inner axles for the 44, but i really want to get inner and outer chrome moly! i saw a set on bronco graveyard for $320 so ill see if i can save up enough ching because i might want to buy more steel for sliders and a few more crossmembers first.

its getting so close, and i just landed a full time job this week so im going to be able to afford to finish her AND pay rent!!!
