Hello everyone. I have searched for answers to my question but have not found what I am looking for.
I have a 1994 Ford Ranger 4.0, auto 2wd and I am in the process of swapping in a 1996 5.0 from a 2wd Explorer with an auto.
I would like to keep all of the factory fuel injection and such.
The 1994 Ranger uses OBD1 where the 1996 Explorer uses OBD2 port.
What is needed to do the swap properly, wire-wise?
I have the engine wiring harness and the ECU from the Explorer. I am currently pulling the dash to get the OBD2 wiring harness out. Does anyone have a diagram on how to hook this up or convert it over to use the OBD2?

Some people swap the dash. Then everything plugs in. Will the 96 explorer dash fit into the 1994 ranger? Not sure on that one.

the firewall is a bit different for the hvac box.

with a 2wd chassis you might still want a double hump pan.

i would just stand alone the obd2 harness

96 even though it's OBD2 shouldn't be too hard to make standalone. I've considered it just for the better control and a newer wiring harness for my truck. Then I remember I'd have to add an 02 sensor and cam position sensor and abandon the idea.
