So I had a little time at one of the local U-Pull-It junkyards yesterday. I didn't find much. But while looking at a '94 Ranger, I happened to glance down at the front wheels and noticed manual hubs. I turned the knobs and they turned smoothly and locked into place. they didn't show any damage, just normal aging of the exterior surfaces. One of them had a legible "Mile Marker" label.

So I took them. I also grabbed both lock nuts and the tabbed washer from each spindle. $38 total after taxes. I would prefer the good Warn hubs, but this was too easy to take advantage of. I forgot to make sure the axle was a Dana 35. I just assumed it would be. The truck appeared to be stock otherwise.

Will I need any other parts to make these work as replacements for my auto-locking hubs? I am a bit concerned that the locknuts were all loose - not really even hand tight. I needed no tools for this grab except the lug wrench for one nut on each wheel. Is this most likely due to poor installation? Or is there any known problem with the Mile Marker hubs? Would these have been original equipment for manual hubs on a '94 Ranger or an aftermarket add-on as I suspect?

Maybe I should go back when I have more time and grab the axles and spindles as spares. The transmission and transfer case are there, too. I forgot to check the door tag to get all the info.

Hey any chance you can spare a 27 spline washer? My truck is missing one and I'm down without it

I'll look around and see if I have an extra. I don't recall having one. Not sure if I can get to the junk yard this week. I'm trying to get ready to go on a camping/wheeling trip Thursday. I might be able to go Tuesday if it looks like they have a D35 truck in inventory.

That's good. Though a splined washer would go to Portland pretty cheap in the mail.

Yes, but our works are apparently both 5 minutes from the local Cabelas so there's that . Extra washers and hardware went home with me from the last pair of spare manual hubs I got so they're handy... This is why I like this place though...

Preliminary damage report from this past weekend.

Developed an exhaust leak half way through Friday. Sounds cool. But Fumes are obnoxious at slow speeds

Steering was almost non-existent this morning. I wrestled it onto the trailer without even checking fluid level. No squealing or other bad noises.

That's all I know about so far. The bottom side took some hard hits on rocks. But I don't see any new damage. It's too dirty to inspect thoroughly right now.

No. Never saw them. Would have been nice. Most of what I saw was Jeep products and side-by-side and a few dirt bikes. There was one motorcyclist who came a round a corner pretty fast and almost ate my winch. Everyone else played nice.

Yeah they are some people who don't follow the rules. Isn't it posted 10 mph on trails there?

Well, the truck seems to be generally OK. I needed to give mom some attention, so I loaded her up and took her for a ride on some forest service roads in the mountains. Probably the last good day to see fall colors around here. A lot of leaves are falling and tomorrow is supposed to be rainy. So mom had a great day.

The steering on the truck is ok. I shot some grease in my new bronze bushings and topped off the PS fluid reservoir. It seems that maybe the my new bushings freeze up in cold weather. I still want to get the front off the ground and make sure there isn't any binding in that setup. It could be that Superlift's geometry isn't perfect and the rubber or poly bushings were flexible enough to disguise some minor binding issue. That would also explain the bushings not lasting very long. I don't know. It drove great today.

Also noticed that the driver side bed side has a big tear in it to match the passenger side.
