That's what I was talking about. Swag calls it the "flat top", I believe. I can make that pretty easy. I'm going to my metal stores today to rummage through their "drops" and bargain bins.

Guys. When doing small projects, be sure to ask your local metal supplier if they sell "drops" or short scraps. In the picture below, all the steel pieces on the right came from what I call the "bargain shelf at my local Metal Supermarkets location. $1/lb. He doesn't even weigh it. I'm pretty sure I got more than 35 lbs today. The sheet steel on the left came from my other candy store, a local mom&pop metal supplier. They let me rummage around behind the big shear outside. The expanded aluminum, I paid regular price for. They also have some cool stuff in the shop, as seen in the other pictures. Saw blades came from my industrial hardware supplier. They carry pro grade tools and 80% of the nuts and bolts you would ever ask for.

The South is still armed and dangerous.

Ok. Got the press brake built and returned to the front of the Ranger. The center section is almost finished. I just need to make the brackets to hang it, plus a couple small details. In the photos, I hung the passenger side headlight and turn signal in their approximate locations to help get a visual of where I'm headed. The fog lights will mount just inboard if the headlights. I think I'm going to order some 3.5" round amber fogs in a few weeks. They'll look better with all the other round lights. Last photo shows an alternate center section I might build for when I hang out with the local Jeep people.

Thanks for posting. His solution is simple. I may order his drawings or figure out something similar on my own. In the directions, Swag mentions stacking other pieces of angle in the anvil. The problem with that is that they normally have a sharp edge that would be sitting in the radius at the bottom of the anvil. I’m thinking I could correct that with shims in between. But it would be easy to get the pieces cut to his drawings and do it his way.

I got the center grill 95% finished. It has mounting brackets and is bolted in place. I'm happy with it. Starting to see some shapes come together now, in my head. I cut out a piece of cardboard to represent the "floor" of the headlight area and got that temporarily supported where it needs to be.

I think the bumper will mimic that tapered angle out toward the corner of the truck. Tomorrow, I hope to rough in some light brackets and figure out how this will be supported and tied into the fender, core support, etc.

I can fix that. I just looked at a modern Wrangler and copied that. The way this worked out, the center grill is mounted with 5 screws. Very easy to remove and replace with other styles.

I could add that. But an old fire-burnt grill wouldn't look too great.

Made some good progress today. Passenger side lights area is about 75% done and I cut the driver side of the old bumper out of the way. The headlight is only supported at the bottom right now. I still need to figure out mounting for the side marker light. Fog light will go between headlight and center grill. That's easy because they come with nice swivel mounting brackets.
