1993 Splash build

That's a great idea. Unfortunately, I don't have a 4405 case to mess around with.

I'll do some digging and documenting, but I'm also considering making my own reduction box case. Ideas and planning are always rolling in my head...

I have maybe 2 hours start to finish in sandblasting this. I couldnt even begin to come close to having it this clean by wire brushing it.

Time to go get it dirty!

Me too, but I'm too lazy to fix the oil leaks and clean the underside of the truck.

Brad, I gotta say its looks awesome!

Thanks bro! I'm really pleased how it came out as well. I'll definitely be using it again in the future. I won't be using glass grit again either. Shit's too expensive. ($35/ 50 lb). the second half of my case I used play sand I got at my local hardware store ($3.50 for 50 lbs. ). You have to sift out the large stones with a piece of screen, but it's well worth it. It goes without saying but wet the ground around you and USE A RESPIRATOR!

Since you got it this clean, you might want to think about painting it, or even better, powdercoating...

Looks good, but a word of advice for next time; always be sure to protect those areas where bearings/seals need to be pressed in. Blasting makes the surface porous, and decreases those tolerances needed for sealing/retaining...

They were protected with a couple rags stuffed down in them. Do you think they needed any more?

It's a good idea to leave the old seal in place while blasting, that's what I do...
