OK, I have searched for about 4 hrs now :dunno:. :icon_confused: My question is....................:annoyed::annoyed::annoyed:..........................Can I do a direct engine swap of my 1993 ranger 4.0 OHV AT with a 1997 ranger 4.0 OHV MT.
Specifically: (A) Motor mount boss
(B) Intake and Plenum
(C) Flex plate
(D) Harmonic balancerer
(E) Cam sensor or crank sensor
(F) Exhaust manifolds

I am just wanting to know this stuff before I go and spend $300 on a possible rebuild-able engine core. The guy that owned my truck before me probably didn't EVER change the oil and killed the crank and 3 rods.
P.S. The engine oil looks like roofing tar. lmao

Specifically: (A) Motor mount boss Yes
(B) Intake and Plenum Yes
(C) Flex plate Well, the manual takes a flywheel, not a flexplate.
(D) Harmonic balancerer Yes
(E) Cam sensor or crank sensor Um, I don't know the possible difference there could be between OBDI and OBDII
(F) Exhaust manifolds Yes.

Get the 97 motor (has updated heads), bolt on your intake and electronics, and drive away...

I digress, thanks for the responses, Very useful. BTW, I know the flywheel is gonna have to be replaced with the flex plate, have heard there is a crank that is 8 bolt might have been on the SOHC from my searches.
Thanks again folks!!

Finished

:headbang: Well after much adieu, a couple of scratched knuckles, 1 eye wash, 8 pairs of nitrile gloves, $728, and an extension to my engine lift, some preparatory cleaning, its a road worthy ranger again. I just hope the tranny is gonna be ok, it kinda shifts hard, I do drive a 2004 nissan titan so anything shifts hard to me now.
I am very surprised it has the zuup it has. I was expecting a turd and got not a turd.:dunno:
