1992 lifted 2wd ranger shock question

I have a 92 2wd ranger that I just did a 10.5 inch lift. It is a 3 inch body lift and 7.5 inches of suspension. Anyways I do not have any shocks on the front as it is a semi custom setup(5 inch lift kit, 2 inch spacers, since it is 4cyl it sits a little higher). The front end shock setup measures 20 inches from stud to shock tower at ride height. The rear end sits at 25 stud to stud. Is there a set of shocks from a standard vehicle I could run? Say something the local parts house would have in stock. The shocks I see for a 1992 f 250 4x4 seam to be close to the length but the front has two eyes instead of a stud on one end. I am going to buy some good offroad shocks, But I would like to pick up something cheap just so I can drive it.

I also have included a before and after pic. I am not done with it, but when I am I will clean it up and take some more pics to post on the lifted picture thread. First picture is 3 inch body lift with 235/7515 mud dawgs, second pic is 10.5 inch lift with 35 inch boggers.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hey guys, I believe I had the answer under my nose the whole time. I measured up the shocks from my 2007 dodge 2500 and they are the length I need with the right mounts. They will give me around 4 inches of upward travel.....I also think the shock will be strong enough to control the 35 inch tires.

Any thoughts?

About the shocks you found, I think this is one of those things where you will have to try them yourself.
If I was looking for shocks I would remove my springs and then physically measure compressed and extended lengths and go from there. I used to have a file with measurements and end types, I believe it came from a member of.....
Well, I found it;

Hope it helps,

thanks, I ordered a set this afternoon and will pick them up tomorrow. all I have to do now is bleed the brakes and set the toe. I am excited to take the truck for its maiden voyage.

Maybe this will help others, the shocks I ordered were front shocks for a 2007.5 dodge 2500 4x4. I just had to remove the lower bushing in the shock eyelet and the fit perfectly. There is 5 inches of up travel, which my stock suspension binds due to the sway bar at 3.5 inches of up travel. They area great deal as they are monroe nitro shocks for $24 each with a lifetime warranty. Hope this info can help others in need of a quick shock fix for a lifted truck. Also being valved for a 3/4 ton truck I think they will do great with the big tires.

i would HIGHLY recommend putting bump stops in, before you use your sway bar as one and break something, also, if it's an off road truck, and modded like that, maybe just take the sway bar off entirely? fwiw, i run my 07 fx4 with no end links on the front bar, and no bar ever installed in the rear (not even from factory)

I said that wrong, there is actually 4.5 inches of downward travel available and around 6 inches up travel.the suspension binds before the shock extends or compresses all the way. The truck is a street/hunting/maybe a little mud vehicle. I don't offroad it and will be pretty easy on it. I will be putting bump stops and limiting strap on it. But as for now everything feels good

how did you get your tires aligned? I gave a 92 2.3 xlt also. and I have 4" springs. but I am not sure what drop bracketsand things I need in order to align the tires.
