1990 2.9 Auto to FM-132 Manual swap Questions.

I had one shortened for mine.

My B2 originally had the GKN style driveshaft, with CV joints. No parts anymore to rebuild these. The driveshaft I got from the same year Ranger donor truck was that large diameter shaft; it wouldn't work to be cut short enough for the B2. Plus, the B2 uses a bolt-on flange instead of a slip yoke, to add to the misery.

I had to get a smaller Ranger driveshaft from the junkyard, and lucked out in finding an old local guy with a machine shop, that did me a damn good job for a great inexpensive cost.

I was sweating the driveshaft, but it ended up fine.

The bitch is, if you were doing the Mazda manual I think your A4LD shaft would work.

Is your original driveshaft going to come up too long or too short?

Haven't gotten that far yet. Prob going to end up buying one if I have to. Was hoping it worked, if not that I could cut and weld it if need be.

It may be in tech section here on TRS, but it seems like there's an inch or two difference in the overall length between the A4LD and M5OD, and the Mitsu manual. If I remember right, the A4LD and M5OD are the same length.

Right on Thanks again. I guess I am on a crash course to find out soon enough.
