1989 ranger ignition problem?

I have a 1989 ranger 2.3 2wd started and ran fine before painting.
Just got done painting it, and we put it all back together.
Tried to start it , it turned over probably 5 times wouldnt start.
Then there was no Power at the dash. Though it was the battery cables
Cause they were rough, but replaced both and nothing.
Door chime works now but still no power at dash key does nothing when turned no clicks anything, but will turn over (not start) with the old screwdriver trick .

Check your grounds - cab, frame

Both are good

Replaced the ignition switc and now it runs fine.
