1989 Ford ranger 2.3L Over-revving?

Same applies with 4.0's & 4WD, lol.

My 1999 has the 4.0L and 4x4...only problem I've had with it is the vacuum operated hubs stunk so I converted them to manual.

I meant that the majority of Ranger's with 4X4 also had the 4.0L. the 3.0L 4x4's aren't too bad with manual, the 3.0L also isn't too bad with auto and 2WD, it's the 3.0L/4X4/Automatic combo that sucks the most! 2.9's had more balls than the 3.0.

Oh ok...I read the 2.9L has 140HP, the 4.0L has 160HP....not much difference considering weight. My 4.0L will move but it is still sluggish compared to a full-sized truck..another 60HP would help it a lot.

that's why they came out with the SOHC.

Well, I took it out again and indeed OD is out or not engaging correctly. Shifting between (D) and (OD) yields no difference in RPM's. I have it up for sale but I am not in too big of a hurry to sell it, just seeing if there is any interest. What do you guy's think it is worth in it's current condition? I will post some pictures below along with the Craigslist ad:
