cool. my buddy has a 98 tracker we're doin its locked 33s and all but the cv's kept snapping so he has the spare front axle i had for this and its getting sas'd

now if the government would get off thier asses id have some $ to build this thing up or pay my rent or pay my insurance truck payment, my buddy back the 700 he loaned me to cover the last month payments and insurance.

i applied for ei on dec 14 i was laid off on dec 10, my r.o.e is electronicly submitted i have 1900 hours towards ei. ive done every report and they have all my banking info. ive been to the office 5 times! FIVE! the last time i was there i sat in line behind 18 other ppl for 2 hours to have the chick behind the desk say she has no idea why i havnt heard ANYTHING and that it should be approved no problem. (id hope so i only need 900 hours)

she files a report saying im in dire straights being that i owe out about $1800 to family and friends and visa. and that i already had to spend the $4'000 i had saved to pay my truck off with to cover gas and insurance for the last 2 and a half months. she tells me id get a call within 2 days and that everything woud be sorted out by then.

thats was 6 days ago... ive heard NOTHING i called 2 days ago talked to some guy same story filed a report saying im in dire straights and need the $ asap was told itd be 2 days and id hear from the agent dealing with my application... that was 2 days ago. ive heard NOTHING and now of course there closed for 2 days for the weekend and family day is monday so theyre closed then 2

LONG story short i will have been waiting 3 months (- 3days roughly) to be approved for something that im well over quailified for and entilted to. oh and did i mention this whole process is supposed to take 6 weeks from the day i appied? :annoyed:

AND i go back to work in march! by the time i get any $ ill have already been back at work! one of the most entertaining parts of the whole thing is a friend of mine tom got me the job. he doesnt drive so i lucked out and his forman hired me in order to keep tom. so when i applied for ei i brought tom with me so he could file as well. they took a week on his application and he's getting $ ever scince

yea... i know sounds wierd but the vinyl seats it had stck we're awsome theyd get wet you wiped it off and no wet butt! but it has scince cracked and is nothing but open foam. i usually get soaked anyways considering i usually go doorless but its nice being dry on the rare occaision and not right as you get in either

binderdundat.

it's been many years since i've even qualified for ei(self employed) but i've gone through exactly what you are now.

gets frustrating.

damn straight it does... im probally the most easy going person you'll ever meet and im ready to friggin strangle someone. i keep having to remind myself not to ream the person behind the desk out because thats like yelling at the waiter because the chef screwed your food up, i know theres no point but come on....

this is unacceptable

ITS FINALLY HERE! well... it'll be here tommorow i got my ei! :D
unfortunatly i still owe a bunch of $ to ppl so tommorow im paying all that off and ill see what i have left for this thing.

doing some research and looks like toyota's dont run a 5.13 gear (as in no one makes them) so im going to have to go to a 5.29 which kinda sucks i didnt want to go up that high. and doublers just confuse me beyond anything

but i found a set of toyota axles on kijiji for $1300 all ready set up with a spool in the back and a lunchbox locker in the front. shaved diffs, and 2" wheel spacers. hopfully i have enough $ left to get these because i just looked up what it'd cosat me to build them and its closer to 2 grand.

so tommorow im going to purchase some coolant and pressure test the cooling system again hopfully i find a leak in somthing stupid and easy to fix.
then im going to stop off at a local shop and see if i can pickup some stock yj springs to throw in.

you'll be happy with the 5.29s.that's what i installed in nearly every toyota that came through the shop.just check that they are set up properly, otherwise they like to peel the teeth off the pinion.

yea one of the guys we used to wheel with had 5.29s and 35s and he kept snapping the pinion heads off. but i dont tend to drive like an idiot... usually:icon_twisted:

and im not going to be doing the gears i dont think. when i was young we sent the truck to a guy named shane at toyworks 4wd out in orangville about an hr away from my house. we just would when we were too busy to do somthing or it was complicated like wiring up the 1st efi motor otherwise the whole truck has been built by my dad and myself. shane specializes in toyotas as you can tell from the name so ill probally just being him the 3rds and come pick them up again when he finishes them.

ok so! i got my ei $! 3 grand. i have a whopping $900 to spend on this thing

i got coolant for it pressure tested it and..... IT DRIPPED! in more then once place so i tightend those up pressure tested it again and duh nuh nuh.... its loosing pressure... but not dripping. so i dont know why. im thinking that the pressure tester may be leaking a bit so i put card board under the truck to catch new drips. we'll see

and i started it to cycle the coolant and when i did so there was a nice terrible noise from the water pump.

EDIT: this thread started as just my solution to some over heating problems but after jim oaks asked for more detail i gave it and have decided to turn it into a build thread so while your reading its all about the over heating then kinda trails off into old storys and pics. this thing has been in my family for over 20 years so there a few storys...

I like Sami's. That's why I have a site for them.

I also like reading about other builds from time to time, so I created a forum for other non-RBV builds and moved this here.

you have a site for sammi's? can i get a link for that?

alright so i went to princess auto this morning and picked up a new temperature gauge and temperature probe threw them in and either its not getting up to 100 degrees or the gauge still isnt working. i reused the wiring that was already there. im thinking i may get rid of that and have all my own wires that way i know its all brand new.

i also picked up a 1.7 ton snatch block cause it was on sale. the i spent the rest of the afternoon trying to bolt in a set of 93 ranger seats and after geting them to fit onto the samurai tracks i had lots of head room and all but the side boulsters wouldnt let me shift into second so i eneded up pulling them back out and am just going to stick with the samurai seats.

i had it running for about 45 minutes straight and got my alternator wired correctly and its charging the winch works, all the lights work, fan works and like i said either its overheating or its good to go once i get springs delt with.

i think im gonna throw a clip of it running up on here later on

on sale eh. how much were they? i might have to get one, or 2

50 bucks i think its beefy though i went to go out and play with with and the winch figuring id get stuck with just 2 wheel drive and the spool but then i couldnt get the winch cable to come out. i think its still frozen into the truck coverd in mud. ill have to wait till it gets warm to pull the cable and clean it out.

REMEMBER KIDS! always make sure your winch works B4 your stuck lol

this is the snatch block im going to try and play with it tommorow

ah yes and while i was out today i decided to do some measuring.

rocker- 26"
frame-20" at lowest point
front bumper-29"
rear bumper -26"
the wheelbase is 92.5"
width from the outside of the sidewalls is 66"
and the top of the roof is at 77"
this is all with the sagged out leafs springs though it should all come up 4-5"
