1988 Ranger 2.9 STX 4X4 5 Speed Need transmission crossmember

I need to find a crossmember for my transmission but I'm having trouble finding any online. My truck is a 1988 STX with 4X4 and a manual transmission. I'm not sure which one though. Does anybody know where I could find them online? If I need to go to the junk yard which models should I be looking for? Thanks!

You can use any trans cross member from any RBV 1983 up to at least 1994, with at most minor modifications.

Thanks for the reply! Forgive me but I'm assuming RBV means Ranger Bronco Vehicle? It doesn't matter if they are automatic, manual, 2X4, or 4X4?

RBV = Ranger Based Vehicle = ranger, bronco 2, explorer, and aerostar van.

That particular crossmember you have isn't available except maybe in a junkyard. It's a crappy design anyway. Grab any crossmember from a ranger or bronco 2, the ones that bolt to the frame directly without any bushings. I'm not sure about the explorer as I think they have a different frame width.

Which years bolt directly to the frame?

RBVs with a 4.0 will generally have the better non isolated crossmember. Pretty sure any ranger and any 1st/2nd gen explorer will work fine. I know one of the ones I've pulled came out of a 1st gen explorer and the other out of a '97 Ranger.

You have to remove the old crossmember mounts that are riveted to the frame (3 on each side) then the later crossmember bolts right in using those holes where the rivets were on one side and the other side tucks up into the frame with a single bolt.
