1988 BII Build

Nice build you got going on wished I could find time and money to work on my ex.........The shopping cart idea is a good one.

LOL i have a shopping cart in my garage that i was going to throw out now i know what im going to do with it :) i got a arc welder and a mig welder that would be worlds easier to carry with a shopping cart, awesome idea bro!!!

thanks man, i was riding by the dumpster (my old autozone lets me dump shit in there and i had a bunch of leftover crap from the move) and there were 4 carts in there.....the idea just came to me lol. besides buying the welder, it's the smartest thing i've added to my new garage

dont throw it out man, i may go snag a bigger one at some point to use as a mobile painting stand or workbench. they can hold a pretty good amount of weight and you can always weld more supports on them.

i hear you, i only have a few hours after work to get stuff done. i always plan on doing stuff on saturdays/sundays, but it seems like i always get distracted.

started assembling the D35 last night. got the pumpkin on and one axleshaft. apparently i have to take off the knuckles to get the outer axleshafts in. i've never put one of these together, so i have no idea what i'm doing. it was all apart when i bought it. i hope i have everything. started trying to install the locker as well, i think i may need to wait until i get the gears in though, it's a PITA

You have to remove the rotor and spindle. The knuckles can stay on.

i bought a cheap ass cherry bomb turbo muffler when i was working at autozone, $15 with my discount. i'm just gonna return it if i dont like the sound and get something else. i want it to have a bit of a rumble, but i dont want it to be obnoxious

Thats what I got on mine. It had a cherry bomb glass pack when I bought it and I hated it. Had the Turbo laying here. I cut off one cat and welded her up. Its not a Magnaflow, but it is not loud which is all I wanted.

i couldnt get the shafts through the knuckles, the ears wouldn't fit through. i'm thinkin i'll just attach the beams to the truck, get the coils/brackets in and then try to install everything.

on the exhaust, it'll be goin straight from the heads to the muffler, no cat as of now. i'll get one when i need to get it inspected. i dont have to pass emissions, just a safety inspection. i like the rumble it has now just coming off of the headers, the PO-PO wouldnt like that though

it's been supposed to rain all day here, so i didnt start on the lift. of course, it didnt start raining until just now. gonna try again tomorrow. the rain gave me time to run down to harbor freight and get a farm jack and some impact sockets.
'
now i hate buying shit from harbor freight, but it was $50 for the 60" jack and i had a 20% off coupon, so $40 for it. it'll do just fine, it'll work great to install the lift too.

the picture doesnt show a lot, it was flexed pretty damn good for the stock suspension.

I have the shorter version of that jack. Got it for X-mas this year.

When your putting in the shaft through the knuckle you have to have it pointed perfectly strait for it to slip through.......I just did it like an hour ago

i went in to get the short one, but it was $4 more for the bigger, figured why not

i tried it several times, maybe i need to try again. just seems like the ears on the joints are too big

didnt get the lift started yesterday either, started lookin a little closer and the leaf spring bushings are shot. i dont wanna have to pull everything back out to replace them down the road, so i'm gonna do it now. they are a bitch to get out. gotta figure out where to order them from.

i'll have to try again this weekend on the lift, i'll be in ohio the next weekend, so i need to get a move on.

ordered some bushings last night from autozone, the energy suspension ones. pick them up tomorrow night. now i get to try and get the old ones out. who knows some tricks besides PB blaster???

i used a drill and my sawzall to cut out the old, took me 30 minutes though....i wanna speed up the process a tad.

decided to buy some more stuff from ballistic....we're really slow at work today

got some lower shock tabs for the radius arms and a gusset to add to the passenger side lift bracket, it's gonna look sweeeeeet :icon_welder:
