talk to your boss, tell him your plans.. tell him you plan on being there at 8 but if i'm 15 mins late is that gonna slit my throat. idk where you work, but some bosses are understanding about things like that.
got the driver side hub on finally, just beat the crap out of it with a BFH. that always works.
made an angled piece to bolt to the frame, it's gonna help brace the passenger side drop bracket. i want them in there really solid. havent prettied it up yet, i'll get some pics of what i'm thinking, i'm sure it's confusing to yall
and they're ready to go in, next weekend it IS happening, no plans.....may even start this week after work one day. i've got all the leaf spring bolts 90% loose, the front wont be bad at all. i can actually get to them with the impact gun.
took the grinder to the angled piece i made the other day, it's gonna bolt to the frame in front of the passenger side bracket
as i said, i had to work last friday and it was SLOW.....i was bored out of my mind, i must've screwed around on here for 3 hours. anyhow, got to designing my radius arm mounts, gonna use 1/4" plate for them. gonna try and get them done this week.
then we were REALLY slow friday afternoon, so i busted out the scotch tape and perhaps the dullest set of scissors i've ever seen.
they should be perfect. decided i'm gonna design a new cross member as well, and really extend the arms instead of just a little like originally planned
started on the radius arm brackets tonight....fell asleep after work, so i didnt get started until 730. using 1/4" plate for it, still gotta add a few pieces....
it warped a little b/c i didnt wait long enough for it to cool. i like welding this thick material though, the pic is blurry, but my welds are lookin alot better
yeah, i know what you mean, that happens to me on the thinner stuff. i always go too fast so i dont burn through. that's the good thing about the 1/4" stuff, you can turn up the heat and go slow and i wont go through it
this is down the road, i'm just bored at work right now...... the lift is gonna be started this weekend.....friday after work most likely. sunny and 75 all weekend....
goin by lowes today to get some more 1/4" plate and finish up the RA brackets. going to the metal shop on friday AM, before work and getting some 2x2x.250 stock for the arms
picked up some more plate, the rest of the brackets are somewhere in there....
this is all i got done on the other side
got the wrong size hole saw at lowes, need a 1 5/8" or somewhere along there. gotta add another piece of plate to the back as well, unless i can find some tubing to match the hole i drill out for the bushings
got a tiny bit more done tonight....the brackets are almost caught up with eachother
here they are next to my cardboard model, they're actually pretty close. i chopped an inch off of the final design.
the hole saw i bought was for wood, not metal. so that's why i havent gotten the hole cut out
my manual hubs didnt have the o-rings on them, so after seeing another thread on the matter, i decided to get some. they were $1.60 at napa, part # 727-2153.
deer antlers, not just for hanging over the fire place
edit-forgot to mention, talked to my boss today, gonna go by the metal supply store tomorrow. so i'll have 20' feet of 2x2x.250 wall stock tomorrow to make my radius arms
went to the metal supply place today, got myself 20' of 2x2x.250 wall
the place is AWESOME.....they have a CRAPLOAD of different stuff. it was expensive though, $142 for it.
$7.10 a foot
but if you think about it, that's $21 a side for radius arms and $42 for both. WAY cheaper than buying them from duff or skyjacker. i'm gonna use it for sliders and a new trans mount as well. i'll probably have enough to use it on my bumpers too.
had them cut it up in four - 5' pieces so i could get them home.
