1988 BII Build

i bought a cheap ass cherry bomb turbo muffler when i was working at autozone, $15 with my discount. i'm just gonna return it if i dont like the sound and get something else. i want it to have a bit of a rumble, but i dont want it to be obnoxious

oh and on a sidenote, i may be going back to work at autozone part time. i saw my old manager last night and he was complaining about not having any good workers. it'll help me with some fundage and i'll get my 20% discount back :headbang:.....i have to replace the rear pads and rotors on my DD in a few weeks, perfect timing

I had the cherry bomb vortex on my 4.0 whatever the stock is and dual 2 1/4" out then ripped it off on the trail and put a glasspack on. With the glass pack it was louder then straight piped and with less resonation in the cab. Both systems were lightning style exiting. I dunno how he exit location would affect it on a b2 though.... I know my f150 now has the same 2 1/4" duals but exits at each corner of the rear bumper and it rumbles nice with the flowmaster 40 on it but when your driving it's pretty quiet wichita is nice. It's good to be able to talk to your passengers sometimes lol

been doin some fabbin this weekend......

finished the workbench this week and mounted my vise. need to secure it a little more, but it's on there.

finished up the axleshafts as well, got the new joints in and tacked them in. slowly but surely i'm getting better with the welds.

finished the c-clip eliminator too, welded a ring around the edge to keep the spring on.

got the passenger knuckle on as well, as soon as the diff armor is done, i'll put that side on too.

and the diff armor.....bought some solid 1/2" steel bar stock to make it. also used a piece of 1/4" plate for the flat part. i like it so far

i may add some bracing on the top of it, not sure yet

finished the diff protector tonight. ground down some of the welds and painted her up. bad pics, i know, i had the garage door close so the damn pollen wouldnt stick all over it.

i screwed up the threads on the 373 pinion as well, so i'd been lookin for a replacement. another TRS'r was giving away a 373 R&P for the price of shipping, so i jumped on it. got here today.

here's the threads on the old pinion

flipped the center bolt in the explorer springs as well, removed the overload leaf as well. hopin i'll get enough lift with them and the lift shackle.....i can always add the overload if i dont get enough tho

workin on gettin the 8.8 ready to go in, i wanna get the lift on this weekend, i need to get the axle's in while everything is apart. it'll clear up some room in the garage too.

i'm thinkin 33's....my buddy works at just tires and i can get a good deal on some. maybe 32's though, we'll see once i get the lift on

i've been trying to find a welding cart for a little while, but they're expensive. i grabbed this shopping cart from the old autozone i worked at. i'm gonna cut it up and put some hooks on it for the cables. it's gonna be perfect :icon_welder:

it also works pretty well as a mobile workbench as well. may need to acquire another, bigger cart to make that.

this is what i originally went to AZ for, a new pinion bearing. i'm gonna get it pressed on at a local 4x4 shop tomorrow.

I'm liking the progress, when do you hope to be wheels up by?

went and picked up my spring perches today, they're the perfect width and the radius on them is just right.

Best welding cart I've seen was a shopping cart. They used the area where you would sit and cut the seat part out and used it to hold the bottles for the torches.

i'm not done with it yet. i'm gonna use some of the leftover basket to make some hooks for the ground, power cord and gun. i might use the basket somehow too. i'll probably get some argon or co2 at some point, so i'll need somewhere to put them. it's awesome though, so easy to move it around.

LOL i have a shopping cart in my garage that i was going to throw out now i know what im going to do with it :) i got a arc welder and a mig welder that would be worlds easier to carry with a shopping cart, awesome idea bro!!!
