that's funny.... just yesterday i was thinking i needed more room lol....the wife wants to park her car in the garage, but all my axles and stuff are in there right now

wow, over 3 months since the last update.......been collecting parts still. plus this slowed me down a little bit......
1988 BII Build

i was taking apart a ranger 8.8 to get the 3.73 R&P out and the damn axle fell off of my jackstands. pinion flange fell right on top of my middle and ring fingers. got a nice deep cut and it broke the top bones in my middle finger. damn it hurt. good thing was, i had just taken out the axle shafts and carrier/ring gear, else i might've been gettin a finger reattached instead of just stitches.

i also changed jobs, NO MORE AUTOZONE :yahoo: :icon_hornsup: :icon_cheers: the best thing is that my discount card still works. dont know for how long, but i have a few friends that i still hang out with that still work there, so i'll always be able to save a little bit.

finally found some tires, got some 31x10.50's off of craigslist for cheap last weekend. got a buddy that works at just tires that's gonna mount/balance them for me once my finger gets better.

also got some 3.73's to match my d35 pumpkin. all i need to do to get everything in is get some spring perches and shock tabs.

pics coming tomorrow

hey man, parts bite! lol.. i cut my hand on the stock 8.8 diff cover- then i took the 8lb sledge to it... i have a ruffstuff one to go on. so...

i've heard so much bad about autozone from employees.. hm....

^
well, i liked the job, autozone is a great company, the benefits are much better than the job i have now. it was just the particular store i was working at, it was close to downtown raleigh, so the customer base wasnt the greatest. plus we stayed open til midnight everynight and my manager just kinda placed me into the closing manager role without asking. i hated working on weekends too.

tires...........31x10.50x15 michelin something's.....cant remember. they have a decent amount of tread to last me until i figure out exactly what i wanna run. i've decided that i am going to do a 4.0 swap and run 33's in the long run. the 3.73's should be fine for that, i dont wanna rock crawl with it.

3.73 ring and carrier (on right) the other carrier and ring gear is from the explorer 8.8 i'm running. the cross pin in the EX carrier is a little bigger than the ranger carrier, so i'm gonna run it

3.73 pinion (on right) old EX pinion on left, going to the scrap yard i think

got a new pinion bearing today, gonna throw everything together tomorrow

i had those exact 31s on my 79 before i put the 33s on, they are a pretty decent tire

i'm a fan of michelins. i have them on my explorer and the last 2 sets on my b2 were michelin. they last a good long while.

yup these were probably 10 years old (truck was sitting for a few years) and i still have them in my garage with about 50% tread left. the most use they got was in snow and they done pretty good in it with the factory track-lock front and rear

i had michelins out last an s15... lol

if it stops raining, i'm gettin my new tires mounted/balance by my buddy at just tires tomorrow evening.

got the new ring gear installed on the carrier.

getting my exhaust flange welded up tomorrow too, gonna try and throw the muffler under there too
