1988 BII Build

thats a nicce b2, i love the motor, it looks so good. ive been tryin to find xploder axles for my ranger, but cant find any around me for the right price...what size tires you gonna run?

thanks man, it actually looks kinda weird in the engine compartment, cause everything else is dirty as hell, but whatever....it's only temporary. as for tires, i'm gonna run some craigslist specials in the 31 inch diameter until i regear and save for some 32's or 33's, not sure yet. eventually i'll swap in a 4.0L too. i just need a job that pays more than $11 an hour lol

russ got me straightened out with my explorer leafs, he lives at least an hour west of raleigh, and he brought them to me while i was at work!! plus, he had to pull them off a vehicle.....so if you have a run in with 'snoopdoggie' about buying some parts, DONT hesitate, he's a good guy :icon_thumby:

so here they are, pic's dark, but they're exploder leafs

lol, at least you have a job, and for the engine, i woulda just kept it on the stand and put it in my living room, it looks that good lol

yeah i got a job, but after taxes and bills, $11 an hour doesnt leave much room for my toy fund

and yeah....wife would've loved an engine in the living room....the garage door somewhat opens into the living room and she'll already complains about all the smells coming from it, i cant imagine what a engine would do. but that is a good idea, a nice, shiny engine as a corner piece....i think it could look good.

well kyle, you're my hero, i dont know why i didnt think of heating the bolts earlier. i used my torch to heat the upper ball joint bolts and they popped right out.....with some persuasion from my mallet.

got any tips for getting the ball joints out now? lol, they are in there good. one is still in the axle beam and the other is stuck in the knuckle

got the knuckles out, but the ball joints are still lodged in the axle beams and knuckles. i borrowed the ball joint press from work and it didnt come close to getting them out.....gonna try a precise mixture of torching/burning/hammering/grinding/drilling until they come out

Well, the one in the beam, knock it out with a hammer....it should have stayed in the knuckle when you took that off.

I use an arbor press to get my ball joints out, but a little heat around em on the knuckle and a mallet will take them out, or heat and then press.

Just so you know, I have 2 knuckles with new ball joints in em, and some alignment bushings just sitting here waiting to be scrapped......you pay shipping and they are yours.

i got the ball joints and bushings out of the beams....the axle sat outside for a few years it looks....they're RUSTY as hell, been doin a whole lot of wire wheeling and grinding

as for the heat thing, i've been using the crap out of that, thanks again :icon_thumby:

i'll def take those knuckles off your hands, like i said, my knuckles are in pretty poor shape. ....let me know how much to ship and i'll paypal you the $$$$

well i just got home from work, at half past midnight, and had a box sittin on my porch....apparently it was too heavy for wife to bring inside (she's small)
i bought a D35 diff with 3.73's from another member along with a drop pitman arm. i'll put up pics tomorrow after work.

dont need too much more before i have everything for the lift. i also bought some used rancho shocks for another TRSer as well, they shipped out today.

P9120161.jpg

got some primer on the d35 beams too, pass. side is all done, still gotta do the back of driver's side beam tho
P9120157.jpg

and the best is last, got 2 new (to me) 8.8 drums, never installed, along with some never installed brake shoes for $45.....gotta love that craigslist, even with my discount at work it woulda been almost $100 for all that

finishing up installing my manual t-case, then installing the driveshaft and soon she'll be drivable :icon_hornsup:

well the t-case is in and hooked up, same with the driveshaft.....something interesting too, i have the sensor on the manual t-case hooked up now and there is a light on the dash that lights up and says that it's in low range now....before it was just the lights on the 4x4 button above the windshield.

i have everything hooked back up as well (i think) but it wont turn over for me. not sure what the deal is, either the timing is messed up or it's not getting fuel....gotta F with it some and see what happens.
