1988 BII Build

if it makes you feelany better Duff blue is darker and powdercoated....

yeah, it is darker, but the blue i have is pretty close, it looks a little lighter in the pics cause it was gettin dark out and my flash went off. i do like duff blue tho, wish i coulda bought it

gettin a D35/8.8/explorer leafs and a factory b2 roof rack next week from another trs guy. i'll post pics once i get them. i may go ahead and put the d35 beams in and leave out the 3rd until i regear it.

workin on what i want my radius arms to look like too, i'll probably cut down on some of the pieces

i dont know if i've mentioned this, but i fckuing love craigslist, got these explorer driveshafts from someone over in durham for FREE. one is from a 94 exploder and the other is from a 4x4 explorer, not sure on the year. i'll most likely sell the long one for cheap and keep the rear to have as a back up. as you can see, the short one has a double cardan joint on one side. :headbang: :icon_hornsup: :icon_cheers:

gonna go ahead and just replace everything including the lines, probably leave the drums for now too, but they also need replacing.

gotten alot done recently, the engine is all hooked up, just gotta get the tranny and t-case in and i'll be able to start it. still cleaning up the axles and grinding the old spring pads off the 8.8.......my camera's out of batteries, so no pics yet

and it turns out, the springs were from another b2, not an explorer, the trs member i got them from is gonna get me squared away with the right ones though, thanks russ:icon_thumby:

stock 3.27's right now, 4.56's and a lockright are goin in before i install it

more stuff..............

been a while, but i've been doing ALOT of work, just couldnt find any batteries for the camera

been cleaning up the 35, it's very rusty and some of the bolts really dont wanna come off
P8250153.jpg

the bolt that the coil spring sits on really didnt wanna come out. took a box wrench, a 3 lb. mallet, almost a whole can of PB and about an hour of banging to get it off.....and i still have to do the other side
P8250154.jpg

the damn thing finally came off and i took a mix of a wire wheel and my angle grinder to the beam. now i just need to get the upper ball joint out and remove the knuckle so i can grind the crap out of that
P8270155.jpg

started on the radius arms as well, just need to find somewhere to get a few feet of some 1/4" or 3/8" DOM tubing. the local 4 wheels parts store is gonna weld them up for me. the blue tape is where i'm thinking about cutting it, but we'll see
P8270156.jpg

as you can see in the pic above, i removed the factory lower shock mount also, i've heard they break sometimes, so i'm just gonna go ahead and take care of it before it's a problem. gonna use these shock mounts from ruff stuff
shock-tab-flat.jpg

i'm gonna have the circle from the old mount welded and then probably have a piece of 1/4" plate welded on, just to be sure it's strong.

still workin on the old 8.8 too, grinding the spring pads off and the sway bar mounts.

Good work so far, keep it up!

Next bolt you have to take off on the 35, heat up the nut side with a bottle torch. It has locktight on it from the factory plus a ton of rust so the heat with help a TON!

thanks kyle, i'll keep that in mind, i gotta take off the upper all joint and i can get the bolt out....havent tried heat yet.....even broke one of my sockets too, good thing it's craftsman :icon_cheers:

Yup, just remeber, with a stuck bolt or nut, heat the nut or the area around the bolt, as the metal heats up it expands. I use my torch just about everytime I wrench on something! Good luck!
