1988 BII Build

it's not that hard to sharpen drill bits, I do it all the time with a belt sander, or a bench grinder, I have even done it with a 4.5 side grinder.

i tried to do it this morning with my bench grinder, it cut a little bit, but not near enough. i'm gonna try again though

The trick is, don't press hard on the bit to the grinder, it just takes a little, and very very few sparks.

I was over at a friends house the other day, and he had a big bit that was dull, he didn't think I could sharpen it, showed him what I could do.

keep water close and after every bit u grind cool it back off. if you overheat it it just goes dull faster

Dont EVER cool metal with water! Use oil. Preferably used gear oil. This lets the steel cool slower.

i took too much off then, i'm bout to go finish up now

The trick to sharping bits is to follow the profile of the bit has already. Don't sharpen just one spot move the bit and do several passes it will keep the bit from over heating too.

i didnt try sharpening the bits again. but i did trim up the DL, TB and TR, then final welded the bungs in. so all the links are done. i cut off the lower sway bar mounts

everything looks pretty damn good too. i'm happy with it and surprised that i havent run into any problems yet as i really have no experience with this. lol

I own a drill but sharpener...but never use it, always seem to use the bench grinder.

I believe if you stuff your front axle up against the bump stops, the track bar is going to hit.
