I am trying to troubleshoot my parking brake cable setup and I can't figure it out and can't find images through google to help. I just got this Ranger and will probably be posting and searching some more in the forums for help. Can anyone take a pic of there setup for me to look at? I attached a pic of what mine currently looks like FYI.

Nate

I moved this to the brake forum... trying to keep things organized.

You have a broken cable... let me see if I can find a picture and I will post it.

Looking at the rust... you will probably be replacing all the cables to get it operating.

It is a good bit rusty under there. I had to replace a section of steel brake line to get the brakes operational again. Since mine is a 5 speed manual I want the parking brake working correctly now too. I think you're right about replacing the cables. Looks and sounds like the muffler won't be too far behind either once the brakes are done. Lol

Welcome to TRS, Nate!

Dang Nate... I forgot to look for a picture.

I'm on my phone and I find it easier when on my computer.

I just did a search function on the forum for park brake cable... many hits try to see what you can find. I found this with a little search...

Here's photos of my '88's cable assy. I try to keep the threaded bracket turned to the top so it doesn't get hung on weeds, grass, sticks around the pasture but it always twists around over time. Hope photos help.

That does help! Thank you. I ordered new left and right cables the other day and got them in today and installed. I just finished. Now I need to adjust the parking brake and should be good to go. I guess next I can tackle this crazy idle.
