I have a 1983 2.3 turbo from a thunder bird that I want to swap into my 1990 ranger that has a 2.9. After I take the 2.9 out, can I just get 1990 2.3 engine mounts and install the turbo engine in it? After that is there anything else I’ll need to do? I have the wiring harness from the 2.3 turbo and the Ecu. Just swap those in? Any other tips or advice you guys have?

The 2.3 ranger engine mounts will bolt to the engine cross member, so yes you can just bolt it in.

You will need a different transmission, as they have different bell housing bolt patterns.

You'll need to address the wiring, fuel lines, radiator hoses, air box, AC lines (if equipped), exhaust pipe, etc

Your gonna need a trans for the 2.3l.
