I have an 83 ranger with the 2.3. I was wondering if I can use the stock carb as the 2bbl carb I have does not fit and the adapter I have is tiny compared to the new carb. And the truck currently does not run at all, very frusterating. Thank you for your time.

If u are converting to duraspark the stock carb will work fine if clean.

Thank you for the answer. So I don't have to connect any electrical wires or vac lines?

Vacuum to the distributor diaphragm for ignition advance. You really want that to be connected.
Something for cold weather if you encounter such.
Assurance that the engine will shut off from idle without dieseling.
Proper choke so it will start when cold, and heat of some sort to turn off the choke.
Fast idle linked to choke so it does not stall when cold.
Fuel line routed for safety and flow.
There may be more that come up.
