Anybody got the motor mounts & block plates for a 1983-1984 ranger with the 2.2l mazda engine for sale??

I am getting closer to putting that engine in my 1995 ranger.:headbang:

I was going to do this in the early winter but emergency heart surgury won the time spot!!:bawling:

I have seen one diesel ranger in person. If I ever found one in the JY or one for sale by me, I would buy it.

Hope my experiance tells you how hard parts are to come by for these.

You plan on putting a turbo on it to help "perk" it up?

Yes to the turbo, but I'll get it up and running first. I am thinking of using a "small" mitius/warner turbo form a turbocoup, but I two svo stang turbo also. I am told that you cann't turn the IP up much so the "small" turbo will be my first choice.:headbang:

I have the mounts & block plates for a b2200, so if I cann't find the ranger plates & monuts I'll make my own.:icon_welder:

I'll have to make the trans crossmember anyways. 5 SPEED:icon_hornsup:

Damn I still want a diesel under the hood of my truck, even if it isnt a powerhouse. But dont want to go into to much of a custom setup that will cost $$$$$.

I would be very careful about adding a turbo to that motor. In stock form the Perkins 4.135 is a great motor and very reliable. When you add a turbo the valve begin to melt and bend. The 2.2 can handle small amount of boost (4-5psi) but I would not recommend it. If you want a turbodiesel you can heavily modify, go with the Mitsubishi 4D55 found in the 85-87 Rangers. The 4D55 will easily handle 20psi of boost with minor modifications and over 30 psi with major modifications. The highest output I have seen on a built Perkins 2.2 is about 75hp and 120ft lbs of torque. In comparison I am aware of several 4D55 Mitsubishi's that push 220hp and 400ft lbs of torque.

If you are looking for parts, try this website. http://north76.proboards.com/index.cgi I know a couple of the guys are parting out the trucks because due to lack of parts availability. The guys on the forum are good guys and they can help you with the turbo if you decide to go that route. Hope this helps

Well if I don't or can use the turbos I'll at leased have had beautifully sweet sound of a rattler!! and the fuel mileage to boot!!:icon_hornsup::yahoo:

I paid $300 for the 2.2l. Got everything from the b2200, raditator to the driveshaft.
Clutch was 3 months old, 5 speed shifts good, engine runs sweet!!

stupid hearts... you can't live with'em, you can't live with-out'em...

I think the diesels were more prominent in Australia or some other country like that.

ya but the diesel from countrys usually are totally different, different make, & different displacement. But there are probably some that are the same out there too.:headbang:

well, I think it's the same from what I remember hearing.

I think it was a German/European version of the Rangers that the diesel was huge....

I know Australia is the same continent as Europe so I wasn't too far off. :D

Jan 29 - Ford Ranger 2.3L mitsubishi turbo diesel motor - (Salina KS) <<auto parts (Craigslist St. Joseph Mo):D

I have a co-worker selling his 2wd ranger with a blown auto tranny for $100. Why buy it, simple, it has a running 4.0 under the hood which was put into a Gen1 ranger, just like what I have so this swap should go smoothly. I know about hooking a 4.0 to a TK4 tranny but I will be rebuilding the enigne so in that time i will find a stronger tranny then my TK4.

Sweet, any poweradders??:icon_bounceblue:

Not sure on poweradders for the 4.0, hell has enough power as it is. I have seen turbos put on them but only running 5-7psi of boost on stock internals.
