A friend of mine has a 2006 ford 500 with the 3.0 DOHC. It cranks but does not start. Fuel pump does come on but sounds kind of sick. To me it kind of sounds like a gargle sound "kind of when you are slurping up the last bit of drink from a straw sound" . I can not find the schrader valve to see if there is fuel in the fuel rail. The tank is half full of fuel. Also I am not pulling any codes with my $30 code reader.

She said when she was driving it. "It reved kind of high like the trans was kicking down. Then started to sputter and quit.

any ideas or where to start?:icon_confused:

Get a can of Quick Start starting fluid(ether).
Remove power brake booster hose and spray some inside the intake, put hose back on.
Try starting the engine.

If it starts and then dies then yes, fuel is your problem.

If it doesn't fire up then spark is the issue.
