05 Edge V8 Swap

MAC, can you tell us why the hedman 89500's won't work? The donor 5.0 has the GT40 heads. Not the GT40P's. Is there a steering shaft problem? Pics and or links to known issues would help. What about the Tri-Y's like Teddyzee is using if we can't use the Hedmans.

Thanks,

Pete

It's all about the change in the front suspension, people have been looking for at least ten years for some that work good. Sure I've got some more but my mornig coffee is getting cold! Ought to give you an idea at least.
Here is how someone got a nice set of Mustang headers to work on his coil spring front end. He had to raise the motor 1 1/2-2" to clear the motor mount and then the tubes got in the way of the steering shaft. Said it took $350 worth of joints, support bearing and new shaft to clear.

Picture showing someone trying to fit some custom headers for a 351 into a late model.

They don't even fit the older ones all that well (problems are on the other side though)

The original poster is talking about a 1998 or newer vehicle, that is the difference. Tri-Ys and the swap headers being discussed fit an Ibeam truck, but the newer rack and pinion trucks are problematic. I'd still love to see how close a tri-y is on those, however!

I am not a spring front end, I have torsion bars. Would that make a difference?

I think you only choices are the same as if you had a coil front end, Think the coil frames have even more room around the suspension. It's not really the problem of fitting between the frame rails but getting around the steering and suspension. (?)
Dave - still work in progress

Mac you are a gentlemen and a scholar. Your alright in my book.

Maybe once you get that thing running and I'm a road trip I'll stop by for a cold "Beverage"! Got places to go and people to do.

I am going to order a set on Friday when I get paid with 43 hrs of OT.

Give me a shout if you have trouble getting in touch with him. Good guy to talk with.

You are a scholar. You should come down for the meet and greet in Lebannon, IN on the 16th of April.

I was thinking about planning on getting a tune and to meet J. Roush at Ray Skillmans on July 7 for one of his signings.

Yup that sounds good too.

Is Jack going to be at Rays museum? If not you should make some time to go and see Ray's massive collection of muscle cars in the north side of Greenwood. Truly a sight to behold.
