Well decided to do a new project. I really like just building stuff. The frame on my F150 is broken in half in the rear and started to pull in the front where the trac bar mounts, not a straight panel left so I bought a new project

01 Ranger 125k miles
4.0 auto
ext cab step side

Kid ran it into a tree last year, didn't set the air bags off, it blew the passenger side knuckle clean off and peeled the fender back which is fine for me because I'm just getting rid of that stuff anyway
I wanna sell the step side and get a regular bed too, the fiberglass bed is too nice to tear up and i like the look of a bobbed bed

I've already got a replacement fender, inner fender, and header panel just need headlight and turn signal
It's nice to keep weight down it has a fiberglass hood and header panel

Plans are
1350/1354 doubler
78 hp d60 yukon chromos 5.38s and a detriot
10.25 rear 5.38s and welded
chevy 63's in the rear
ranger rears up front
39.5-43" tires, depends on what I find when I have the cash

Current setup is coil springs in the front of my F150 but I'm going with leaves just for simplicity and for around here leaves are enough

Nice looks good. I guess you already ran the detroit in the 60 before? How does it hold up if you break a shaft? BTW broncograveyard has great deals on Yukon Chromo shafts for a d60

Yea I've been running it for about 8 months, only 1 broken shaft and it held up great
I'll have to check them out I have the outers just need inners and super joints

Thats good to hear. I'm running all chromos except the pass inner. I havent broken it yet. But I've killed 2 sets of everything else. I'm due for a new locker. I want a ARB but they are too much $. I may have found a deal on one locally if not Im prob goin to run a Detroit. I've heard bad things about them breaking if you blow a shaft though. I currently have a Power Loc. It worked great for the first 2 years but I've been fighting it all this year and it only works about 60% of the time even after a rebuild.

I have everything needed to start the swap, just no space at the moment haha.

Got my chromos and superjoints too, damn they are sweet.

Anyone thats done a SAS on a newer ranger, what did you do for the steering box?

I think most people just get either an older ranger box or IIRC fj40 box

IFS toyota pickup box. Outside of the frame rail. All I did was drill holes and bolt it to my frame and its held up so far but I wouldnt advise doing that. Been happy with the box and they have lots of aftermarket support. Good luck and look forward to see the progress.

a toyota ifs box is a good choice as it mounts to the outside of the frameral and is easily tapped for hydro assist. another good one is a fj62 box. again mounts to the outside of the framerail and can be tapped for hydro, but the upside is its a forward swing pitman arm

Alright thanks guys, I figured I would need one that mounted to the outside. I think I'll get the axle set up then see if I need a forward swing or not

If you need forward swing. A 73-79 F150 4x4/78-79 Bronco should also work. Plus it may be a lil bigger than a toyota box.

Front suspension is out and a little motivation

Sucks about the 150, looked like a nice rig. But I am defiantly looking forward to what the Ranger turns into.

I know you! Saw your build over on FSB and you wheel with my buddy Ben. Nice to see you switched to a ranger!
