Jesus Christmas this thing got tall fast!

I’m 6’0” and the hood is nipple high. I hope the skyjacker 134’s settle a fuzz. Camber is positive 1° on both sides with the tuff country 2” brackets at full negative camber.
Worst cast scenario, I’ll run a Chevy drop shackle in the rear and run it until either the springs settle or the tires die. Topper comes off tomorrow so I can haul drywall.

Anyone have a source for new disc brake 8.8 dust shields or just lose them and forget it?

The rear brakes get all the splash and road spray from the front wheels and need to be protected as much as possible. If you know what year or year range the axle came from, you could check Tasca or Ford parts for replacements.

I need to replace one of my front ones because connection broke where one of the bolts attach it to the knuckle.

Fawk em. If you drive it .....they stay cleaner with a powerwasher. Have not had any on mine ever. You can fab better ones that just pin on anyway If your weary about it.

The bronco is drums front and rear....they got covers obviously but you can't wash the dirt out.

Of course I have full width axles on my ranger. it's full floater and the rotors are right out in the wind... At least your wheels offer some protection.

I’m not afraid to run less the dust shields, but in winter, when it probably matters most, the truck sits while the van serves daily status. I don’t want to throw a set of pads and rotors at it yearly. I bent up nicopp brake lines for a reason and plan to use AG paint on the axle when I get it wire wheeled because I want it to look good for more than 3 months. Welcome to Wisconsin. Corrosion sucks.

And thanks Bobby. I love this truck. It’s creeping up on 300,000 miles which will be a first for me and I’m pretty proud it’s made it this far in Wisconsin. She’s got carbide gouges in the tailgate from sleds and the front wall of the box is dented from wheelers. It will rot before it ever dies.

Ospho, fluid film, and chassis saver are effective tools. Just, not in that order.

Powder coat gun is $50 on ebay, and used electric ovens are free-$50. Harbor freight powder looks meh, but holds up. Blast cabinets are $300 for a 'good enough' one.

Mine is due for a frame swap. The way I look at it, it's just the cost of owning a vehicle that you plan to keep in the saltbelt. So, it's getting a frame swap. But, my 88 is the greatest teacher I've ever had. It stays with me, no matter the level of difficulty.

I’ve been dumping 30 weight in the doors and anywhere it will run downhill in this truck since 2006. It’s in surprisingly good shape for what it is. Fluid Film is finally available here locally so I’m going to try that this fall. The frame is in great shape other than behind the passenger side spring bucket.

I hit some of the fleet trucks with fluid film out of a gallon can and the remote tank Harbor Freight spray gun. Works pretty well. And much cheaper than the damn rattle cans

The axle came from my old ‘99 explorer. I haven’t found a new replacement yet. Would be easier if a part number was easy to find

I’ve been trying to get it did since I got it back! I’ll figure something out for paint. Short of a zinc base with a glyptal mid and epoxy top coat, I should be able to find something that works.

Just tear it down and clean it up....be vigilant. Or before you know it you will be on Rockwell's with a hemi or something. You been warned. Don't let it do to you what it did to me...
