93 Splash in SC, V8-Swap version

Ok. I need to scrounge up some different parts for the hydroboost project. Either a different hydroboost unit that my master cylinder will fit onto, or, use the big master and do a SAS with 1 ton axles so the brakes match the master. Gotta think outside the box. (And budget)

In other news, i can use the back half of the Explorer air filter housing with it's MAF assembly. It will work perfectly with the other half of the 4.0l housing I used to make my snorkel system.

After those 15 minute jobs, I started tearing apart the underhood wiring harness to get rid of the 3.0l stuff and PCM. I'm going to also remove the old ubderhood fuse/relay box and integrate the one from the Explorer, which has more fuses and relays. Hoping I can clean up my engine bay wiring. The biggest issue is that I need or want another firewall bulkhead connector. The one from the Explorer is going to be a challenge to fit and it is a lot more than I need. I'll be seapping wires between the harnesses to maximize use of the original Ranger bulkhead connector. But I need more pin spaces than that. Anyone know of a good, low cost bulkhead connector I could get?

Pcm connector and the 3 engine harness connectors have been extracted. This looks worse than it is.

Weatherpack makes a 22 pin bulkhead connector that’s reasonable. I think the Deutch DTs have 12 pin bulkheads.

That's a good question. How many connections do you need?

I can look in my Waytek catalog tomorrow. They have several different bulk head connectors

I found the 22 pin weatherpak connector. It looks good. The 2" hole it requires will nicely fill the hole from the clutch. I don't have an accurate count on how many pins I need. I may have found a pinout of the original 54? Pin connector. I need to print that out and start looking at circuits seriously again.

I have to be more careful with money. On long term disability, I'm only getting 60% of my base pay. Plus, no overtime or doubletime on Sundays and holidays. I'm probably at about 55% of the budget I'm used to having.

Not much to see today. I spent about 6 hours sitting on the living room floor, starting to combine the Ranger and Explorer harnesses into one. Got the Ranger power distribution box released.

The major high current power wires from the Explorer Box are pinned into the firewall bulkhead connector. All the Ranger wires that stay have been identified. 14 wires that need to be spliced are labeled and ready. Most of the Explprer pins are too small to lock into the Ranger bulkhead connector.

There seems to be about 9 spares that I could re-purpose. I will probably use some of those for my light bar and rock light harnesses, which are currently just pushed through a grommet. Some of that may change as I weed out the rest of the unneeded Explorer wires.

I will probably order a separate bulkhead connector for the new sensor wires for my Holley dash. If I don't get in too much of a rush, this wiring could turn out pretty clean. Doesn't look that way right now.
