Dropped the 2019 off at the dealer for them to look at the battery not holding a charge issue.
Usually over charging...

Cooks battery. Full parameter reset after battery install.

That is if the modules and alternator were not draggin

Could be. Since it’s under warranty, it’s their problem to figure out instead of mine.

Because of the truck being the first year out, I bought the extended bumper to bumper on it just in case. So, they have another 3 years to make it hold up before it’s on my dime to repair it.

When I have gotten the extended warranty, I’ve gotten my money out of them. It just depends on the vehicle as to whether I get it or not.

Well, I had an interesting conversation with the customer service rep at the dealer (these people are pretty new. I don’t know if the other two moved on or retired or what). Anyway, I asked on the status of my 2019 Ranger.

CS: Please hold while I check.... They are still working on it t the moment. We’ll give you call when it’s ready (pretty standard - no big deal)

Me: Ok, I was just checking so I can make arrangements to leave early since you close the same time I get off work.

CS: Well you can make arrangements to pay over the phone and we can leave the keys in the truck for you to pick up later.

Me: Pay? It has a 5 year bumper to bumper warranty.

CS: When did you have the battery replace?

Me: It came with the truck.

CS: We’ll give you a call when it’s done.

Me: Ok, thank you.

Really? 2019 Ranger... It’s 2022... 5 year warranty... And it’s not even past the factory 3/36... *face palm*

No warrenty on batteries?

Most cheap batteries have at least a three year warranty. I thought motorcraft was supposed to have 5 plus year warranty.

I wasn't happy about it but they didn't and I would have been looking at about the same amount of money getting and installing a replacement on my own. At least I know there wasn't a fault with the charging system in anyway that killed the battery so soon.

Not any more it seems. They are getting about 5 years from what I've seen just like the ones you buy from the parts stores. The 2011 is on it's 2nd replacement now. The girlfriend's roller skate got a new battery 5 years after she bought it. One lasting only 2 years is an odd one but it seems there are others with 2019 Rangers on 5G that had to replace their batteries fairly recently. Costs are going up and it looks like quality is going down. Heck, I couldn't find a battery for the 2011 that had a 5-year warranty 5 years ago and ran into the same thing this time.

Think it intentionally killed the battery.

If I knew for sure they weren’t going to warranty it, I would have gotten an Optima for the same price.

Being the battery died so soon, I had a doubt about it not being the alternator or power management taking out the battery. And with Murphy choosing the timing, I just didn’t have the time to troubleshoot the systems myself. A week earlier or later, it wouldn’t have been a problem.
