The Taurus was good enough for Robo Cop (The original movie), it should be good enough for everyone.
It was, in it's day. Well, everyone who wanted a Midsized Ford, anyway. I've had/driven five of them over the years. Let's see.....
  • 1991 Mercury Sable wagon
  • 1990 Ford Taurus wagon
  • 1998 Mercury Sable sedan (wife's parents car, they loaned it to us while ours was off the road (and my wife didn't like the '91 Ranger).
  • 1998 Ford Taurus sedan (housemate's car, but since I didn't have a vehicle of my own, I often drove it when I needed a car)
  • 1995 Ford Taurus sedan (current daily driver).
Not to mention that rental car companies seemed to have them (never rented one). The Taurus was pretty much a bellybutton car.

Waxed it, going to go out on a limb and say I am the first guy to wax the topper in at least 10 years.

Yeah, i usually end up peeling the seal coat off with my pressure washer instead, it saves a lot of "wax on, wax off".

Mine was originally red and was painted black a long time ago.

Like @Dirtman ’s “cantaloupe” (which makes about as much sense as Dirtman overall), I only have one word:

RUSTOLEUM

Actually it is the best paint on the truck, I can just see a little red around the window seals where they have shrank in places.

Drove back from the desert early to get my 3.0 package dropped off and I did. After it was dropped off, driving back home there was two gumps in a older prerunner ranger. They decided tailgating is fun, got onto the hwy and they continue to be dumb. I could tell that ranger is 2.3. when we came to a hill, I floored it and left them way behind..😎
You say "gumps" like it's a bad thing

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Took my brother for a ride. He's visiting from PA and we haven't seen each other in almost 2 years due to Covid. So there is a road I wanted to check out - Toe River Trail. It starts on the Blue Ridge Parkway, near Mt Mitchell and travels down the side of a mountain. Descriptions talk about water crossings and obstacles up to 18" high. Sounds like a nice drive.

Well, the gate was closed. So the info I read about its open season is wrong. We had driven 2 hours to get there. So we investigated a few other gravel roads. Beautiful scenery. But no challenge requiring 4x4. Neal's Creek Rd is a nice drive. It lead to Toe River Rd and the bottom end of Toe River Trail - gate closed at that end, too. Nice camp sites along the roads and even a campground. This is all in Pisgah Forest.

Then we turned around and went back up the mountain and descended the east side via Curtis Creek Rd. Another nice dirt rd with campsites, mountain views and a park service campground near the bottom. All in all, a nice day with my brother.
