Traveled to the family cabin in the Black Hills of SD last weekend. Got the first load of firewood (pine) cut and split!

Life is just a long string of stories.
Drove up Maple Springs Rd (5S04) to near Santiago Peak. Did the 'hard lines' short cut and a steep, 23° climb. Made a video you can watch
Oh, and then I washed the truck.

Why should I pay someone else to screw it up when I can screw it up myself for free?
Tried to vacuum up all of the Jack Russell hair. I swear the OE fabric is like velcro with dog hair. Either that or the hair is barbed and is just difficult to remove. The black lab hair comes right off. I've tried all the usual methods; vac, sticky tape, diluted fabric softener. I wonder if new aftermarket seat covers would be any better?

Kind of straddles the line between "to" and "in".
I worked on finalizing my digital gauge cluster for Dash Command on my Radio head unit.
It allows me to monitor:
  • RPM - Current and Max
  • Torque - Current and Max
  • HP - Current and Max
  • Boost - Current and Max
  • MPH - Current, Average, and Max
  • Voltage
  • Intake Temp
  • Coolant Temp

I towed down our Argo 8x8 on a trailer from our family cabin for annual maintenance. The last time I pulled the trailer I used, I was lucky if I hit 60mph; and that was empty!
With the Argo on the trailer, I was able to hold 65mph in 4th with the new engine and supercharger. It's taken a lot of time, thought, and energy, but I am very happy with the results so far. 😁

Drove it to grandma's house for the extended family Thanksgiving gathering. On the way home I started to feel something all to familiar. Like it was bucking a bit. Previous times I felt this (though worse) it was missfiring caused by a bad headgasket. Completely different engine than those times so if it's same thing again... :pissedoff: :flipoff:

<EDIT 12/20/2023: It seems to have been a bad spark plug or wire. Swapping the plug and wire on cylinder 3 cleared up the missfire. Will do a full tune up in a few weeks/months if it keeps running right.>

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.

Oof... you don't have a steel yard locally? I nearly shit a brick the first time I compared prices between Lowes/home depot and an actual steel supplier.

there is an Alro about 40 miles north of me with a big retail outlet with pre-cut stuff. they ain't exactly cheap either.,
here in Toledo there are several steel shops, including Alro, but none have pre-cut outlets so getting it cut for transport is quite expensive.

Ouch. I have my pick of steel suppliers around here. The one I use the most gives you one cut for free if you buy a full length. Not sure about most of the others. My F-150 lets me buy full length if I want, just don’t currently have a good place to store full length. It’s also cheaper buying full pieces, what you spend for half a piece pays for the whole thing.

Steel shop I use is close to my work, but 1.5hr from home. So try to buy when I’m on lunch.
They’ll cut whatever you want. They also have a big rack of short stuff so if I just want a small piece I can look around through there.

The only place I've found relatively close to me is up in Cranberry called Metal Supermarkets. They might not be the best prices around but they are the best I've found, being that I don't do a lot of steel work, and better selection and prices than the big box stores and hardware stores charge.
