Water Pump Fails after Coolant Flush

So I got my Ranger about a month ago. Have done numerous small trouble shooting repairs to get her up to snuff. Thought I was there so I did a coolant flush on Sunday (4/1). I take a ride the next day and it appears now that my water pump has failed. Coolant dripping out the bottom (haven't had a chance to confirm it's coming from the weep holes, but it looks like the typical water pump failure). Not only that but it never stopped leaking after the truck cooled down and dripped all night.

Has anyone heard of a coolant flush resulting in a water pump failure?

depending on the chemicals used. I have seen repairs and preventive maintance do weird things in the past. It very well could be the original pump and just started to leak after stuff was put into the system breakign down any scale or build up in the pump itself. How bad was the coolant before you had the flush done?

I have done work on cars that started as a simple heater hose replacement but the system was so neglected I anded up replacing everything in the system inclusing freeze plugs by the time it was all said and done. (this was not on any vehicle I have owned) Some people neglect to do the most basic of things then some one gets the vehicle and tries to do the right thing and opens a can of wormes they want no part of.

Hydralic flushes (brake system) should be performed about 1 time a year alot of people never get them doen fo rthe entire life of the vehicle. Cooling systems I feel should be flushed every 2 years because as the antifreeze starts to break down it becomes acidic in the system and starts to erode away at metal in th engine.Galvanic corrosion is another thing that will have an effect on interior walls of the cooling system and electrolysis can actually occur. Vehicle cooling systems contain alot of dissimular metals compounding things to create problems if not properly maintained.

the coolant was pretty bad. I don't think there was any antifreeze in it as there was a coolant leak. It looked very brown and there was sludge on the radiator cap.

the brown with sludge was most likely rust. It may take a few flushes to get it all out of the system. One thing to think about is all that is going thru the radiator adn the passags on the rad are very small comapred to some of the water jackets inside of the engine.
