You are probably going to break your laptop if you sit down on it... not sure what the correlation is either.

The site is definitely not cell phone friendly. You have to use a computer.

I was able to do mine on the phone. Was a big pain though. Had to back out and start application over 2 different times. That's with me setting up the FRN or whatever last night. I'm gonna have to invest in a new laptop

No but the screen went out over a year ago haha. Just haven't found the need or want to replace it.

Congrats. I don't recall seeing anything requiring you have it on your person. Most radio nets use the ULS system to verify who you are and if you belong on the net. It is handy to have a copy on you for reference until you memorize it. It shouldn't take you long if you follow the rules. Since most don't enforce it except repeater nets and some other things, it's a "let your conscience be your guide" kind of thing.

Now my HAM License, I do carry that. HAM enthusiasts tend to be more self policing and sticking to the rules than the GMRS crowd.

Cool idea, would be interested once I get the truck put together. One of the main reasons I am building, to go do some fun offroad exploring with the kids and the wife. I think my dream trip right now is to drive up Vancouver Island to Port Hardy, hop the ferry up the inside passage to Prince Rupert, and drive it back around the mainland
