I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
1st I have that same chainsaw. My batteries are old and warm out and after a while the 6 inch cut gets old. I've been looking at the M18 version. Think it has a 12 inch blade. Would be way more convenient when having to cut a real log.

2nd all the campgrounds in Tennessee want you to have heat treated or local firewood. Something about pest control. We just buy it at the campground normally but sometimes catch someone on the we selling local wood. It's always 5 dollars a bundle at the campground. Can usually get 2 for 5 at locals. I have a full stack out by the firepit but will not carry it. I will just buy some there and chip in.
If you’re talking about the 16” chainsaw that uses the M18 battery, I have that one too. Pretty much all the branches were 6” or smaller, only 1 was about 8”... I figured it was a waste to use a 16” saw to cut up little stuff. This was the right tool for the job.
If you’re interested in the bigger saw and already have the M18 batteries for other stuff, I’d recommend buying it. It will never replace a gas chainsaw if you use it all the time, but as a homeowner with 2 acres of woods it’s perfect for the 1-2 times a year I need it. It beats the hell out of dealing with this ethanol gas and cleaning carbs.

I have quite a bit of wood that already "illegally" crossed state lines. What is a couple more in the other direction?
End up with spotted lantern flies in Indiana. I'm assuming they've gotten to Jackson by now

We have notifications to look out for them and report them on base. The civilian world allows one to kill them on sight. I don’t know how prevalent they might be yet.

PA lost the battle on the Emerald Bore Beetle. Insects just multiply too quickly and modern transportation just helps it along.

I don’t know if wood transport has anything to do with the Lantern Fly though. I honestly just don’t know enough about them to say anything more than I know what the look like.

I know they're afraid of them moving through just on vehicles. I'd assume wood would be another way, but it's hard to tell. They were awful last year, larvae are starting to pop up around here too

Had a bunch of them around here last year. Only a couple this year. I year there is a big increase in the amount people are seeing south of me, around Philly.

Ordered an MXT275 mobile radio and a dual pack handheld set with the TRS discount. The radio will eventually go into the 2019 but will find a temporary home in the 2011 for the meet. The MXT400 is on back order at the moment as well as the other radio I was looking at. So, rather than waste money on a radio I won't use, I just got the one I had originally planned for the 2019 anyway. I just need to order a proper antenna and mount and I'll be set. The antenna that comes with the radio works but has poor performance. The cheap wire molded into the antenna has a very high loss.

Most of what we did at the round up was line of sight, like note in a bottle throwing range.

I figured as much but this also has vehicle to vehicle communication in mind and SAR operations. Less with the 2019 than the 2011, thus why I want the more powerful radio for the 2011. Trees and vegetation does an amazing job of reducing range. Much more than one would think. We've run across that trying to communicate during training exercises at distances that communication shouldn't have been a problem. Especially since the mobile unit was up on a hill less than a mile away.

The radios came in yesterday. I’ll have to take a gander at the trucks to see how I want to mount it. Temporary for the 2011 and permanent for the 2019. The MXT275 comes with a plug in pigtail that has cigarette lighter plug. So that will be handy for the 2011.

With all the extra wire the installer left in the engine bay for the bed cap, I don’t think I’ll have a problem with wire for wiring the radio in the 2019.

Then I’ll need to work on a better antenna. The one that came with the radio will work for now but reception and transmission signal is not great. The 6db antenna Midland sells is much better, hard mounted, and has a spring in the base so it doesn’t break when hitting branches and such on the trails.

I'm still fighting issues with the engine in the Ranger. It's time to drive the #@$(*#@$ thing. Down the road or off a cliff.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Patience, Grasshopper. You will get it done. Just be patient and work wisely.
