Transmission swap Question

Hello, i have a 1986 BII 4X4 2.9L with a bad auto transmission. i found a 1989 Ford Ranger 4X2 2.9L auto transmission at the salvage yard that is suppose to be good. Anyone know if this will work on my 1986 and if so any problems I might encounter? thanks for you help in advance.

A 2wd transmission cannot be used in a 4x4 truck without diassembling it and swapping the output shaft and tailhousing and at that point you are better off just rebuilding the one you have.
