And the dealership isn't doing this either, right?

From the 2019 Owners Manual

"Note: You need to perform the tire pressure monitoring system reset procedure after each tire rotation.

Performing the System Reset Procedure Read the entire procedure before attempting.


1. Drive the vehicle above 20 mph (32 km/h) for at least two minutes, then park in a safe location where you can easily get to all four tires and have access to an air pump.
2. Place the ignition in the off position and keep the key in the ignition.
3. Cycle the ignition to the on position with the engine off.
4. Turn the hazard flashers on then off three times. You must accomplish this within 10 seconds. If you successfully enter the reset mode, the horn sounds once, the system indicator flashes and a message shows in the information display. If this does not occur, please try again starting at step 2. If after repeated attempts to enter the reset mode, the horn does not sound, the system indicator does not flash and no message shows in the information display, seek service from your authorized dealer.
5. Train the tire pressure monitoring system sensors in the tires using the following system reset sequence starting with the left front tire in the following clockwise order: Left front - driver side front tire, Right front - passenger side front tire, Right rear - passenger side rear tire, Left rear - driver side rear tire.
6. Remove the valve cap from the valve stem on the left front tire. Decrease the air pressure until the horn sounds. Note: The single horn tone confirms that the sensor identification code has been learned by the module for this position. If a double horn is heard, the reset procedure was unsuccessful, and you must repeat it.
7. Remove the valve cap from the valve stem on the right front tire. Decrease the air pressure until the horn sounds.
8. Remove the valve cap from the valve stem on the right rear tire. Decrease the air pressure until the horn sounds.
9. Remove the valve cap from the valve stem on the left rear tire. Decrease the air pressure until the horn sounds. Training is complete after the horn sounds for the last tire trained, driver side rear tire, the system indicator stops flashing, and a message shows in the information display.
10. Turn the ignition off. If two short horn beeps are heard, the reset procedure was unsuccessful and you must repeat it. If after repeating the procedure and two short beeps are heard when the ignition is turned to off, seek assistance from your authorized dealer.
11. Set all four tires to the recommended air pressure as indicated on the Safety Compliance Certification Label, affixed to either the door hinge pillar, door-latch post, or the door edge that meets the door-latch post, next to the driver seating position or Tire Label located on the B-Pillar or the edge of the driver door

In some form or fashion, yes. Different OEM's have different procedures. And then you have the aftermarket Snap-on, Autel, etc that have their own little boxes to "train" the system when the tires are rotated.

If you are ever around a auto shop, have you ever heard the annoying horn beeping all day long? That is what they are doing, though like I said they have other gizmos that calibrate it instead of letting the air out of the tire.

I certainly don't do that lol, the dealer (probably doesnt) does it for me with every oil change.

I do not. I use the same tool and procedure I use on my 2011 when I rotate tires or switch tires from the all season tires to the winter tires. The only difference is that I can do it right after rotating/swapping tires on the 2019. I have to wait for the TPMS light to light up on the 2011 before it will take the retraining.

Steps for Training Ford Tire Pressure Monitor Sensors TPMS:

1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, then press and release the brake pedal.

2. Cycle the ignition switch from the OFF position to the RUN position for 3 times, ending in the RUN position.

3. Press and release the brake pedal.

4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

5. Turn the ignition switch from the OFF position to the RUN position 3 times, ending in the RUN position.*The horn will sound once and the TPMS indicator will flash if the training mode has been entered successfully. If equipped, the message center will display TRAIN LF TIRE.*

6. Place the tire pressure monitor activation tool on the LEFT (Driver's Side) FRONT tire sidewall at the valve stem. Press and release the test button repeatedly on the TPMS Tool until the horn beeps. (It may take up to 6 seconds for the tool to activate the sensor, Leave the tool on the sidewall for the entire 6 seconds). The horn beeping indicates that the body control module has recognized the TPMS sensor.

7. Within 2 minutes of the horn sounding confirming programming of the LF tire, place the TPMS tool on the RIGHT (Passenger's Side) FRONT tire sidewall at the valve stem and press the test button to activate the sensor.

8. Repeat step 7 for RIGHT REAR followed by LEFT REAR tire in that order. The procedure is complete after the last tire has been trained. When training is complete, the message center (if equipped) will display TIRE TRAINING COMPLETE. For vehicles not equipped with a message center, successful completion of the training procedure is verified by turning the key to the OFF position without the horn sounding. If the horn beeps twice when the switch is turned to OFF the training procedure was not successful.

I just drive it and in 5 to 10 miles the tires read correctly.

I absolutely hate the TPMS, if you can't use a tire gauge you shouldn't have a driver's license.

Ntb messed mine up in the escape, interior lights would blink on and off afterwards. It is no longer functional and I will never go to ntb again, they denied having damaged anything. But at least now I have no light and can swap tire sets to my hearts content.

What about if you are swapping sets of tires?
I don’t swap tires. When I rotate them or when I got new tires earlier this year I just drive it and it sorts itself out.

We use the TPMS training tool, not the “let air out” procedure.
