My rig is black and tinted, over time I removed the Edge and 4X4 stickers, used plasti-coat to black-out the emblems, restore grayed-out door/tailgate handles, and rear bumper, covered and blacked-out the grill and recently tinted the ford emblem on the front. I like it and it got me thinking about the rims. so I tinted a shiny coffee can, then tried a hub cab and that led to the complete rims, (Explorer Limited rims). I like the look, one thin coat of tint and two coats of clear.

Looks OK...I was actually expecting them to be blacker...but...that's only what I would do.

I had a set of the original 10 hole aluminum rims on my 88 (not stock on the Ranger) and the clear coat had worn off so I sand blasted them and painted them the same colour as the body (dark blue)...they looked great right up to the day I scraped them...

I do like the blackout look you did with the emblems and other parts...and maybe the rims being the same would not look as good as what you have done...

Another coat might have done it for you, would have been twice as dark. I thought too dark, like another black rim.

There is no touch-up with tint or it's obvious. If they get beat-up I would likely have to strip them, a real PIA or black them out........
