It's heavy and awkward to pickup empty, with my hands, forget full of lead and using tongs.
There is a special tool to pick it up, sorta like a bucket with a clamp around it on a stick that tilts so it can be poured. With the bigger ones it's a two man job.

My credo
I work in fuel tanks for a living. Don't judge me!
I'm with Dirtman. It's a crucible for melting metal.

I have slowly been collecting materials to build a furnace so that I can melt aluminum and brass/bronze. Sand casting things just looks like a ton of fun.

I'm trying to figure out how to melt and cast tungsten... Considering most things on earth melt at lower temperatures than tungsten, I'm not having much luck. Lead is slowly being banned and the only viable option for weight is tungsten or gold. I don't have enough gold.

For whatever reason, the translated version of the webpage will not link. But the original language will.
Have fun with the Cyrillic letters.

Essentially you make a cistern out of graphite ingots, then hook wires to it to heat it up with electricity.

The link is a story about a guy melting two pieces of tungsten together on a bet.

graphite has a melting point of 3600*c and tungsten 3422*c.

My credo
Lead, Follow or get out of my way
My mom wanted to go to Goodwill and look around... so I took her. I walked around and happened onto a corn muffin maker for $1.99. No makers marks... but it doesn't say made in China. It feels pretty heavy... and looks like someone made muffins in it once before seasoning it. I guess I'm going to try a stiff bristle brush to clean it up and see if I can season it.

So my new collection begins... This time I will probably keep it
