My credo
Crossed threads are tight threads.
When I quit drinking I decided to do some type of racing. A buddy knew someone starting a grassroots 4x4 off road racing circuit and introduced me. Chuck took me for a ride and I was hooked. First truck that was in my price range was a Ranger rollover. Rest of the details are in my racetruck build.
Reminds me of the bumper sticker: "My drinking team has a racing problem"...

Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Plan for it as best you can.
I like doing things outdoors and I’m involved with a SAR team. Rangers can go most places a Jeep or side by aide can and has a better hauling capacity.

I like working on my own stuff because then I know what was done, why it was done, and how it was done. Not necessarily that it was done better and not always cheaper.

The down side is that there is “always one more thing I would like to do”. That goes for both the trucks and the trailer....

“Comfort breeds weakness.” So I try and make sure I’m slightly uncomfortable at all times.

I try and do everything on my own, I do not like needing to rely on other people if at all possible. It may take longer and cost more to do it myself, and there is no one to blame but myself.

At the height of Covid lockdown the wife and I discovered the National Cornhole Championship on ESPN2. Announcer and color commentator breathlessly describing matches complete with slow-motion replay.

Always had a love for things mechanical and working with my hands. My parents encouraged it along with learning all you can about something. I have more hobbies than I’ll ever have time and money for but I love it anyway. It’s helped a lot to dive into new things that interest me because I’ve been able to find ways to apply seemingly unrelated things together to solve complex problems.

As for my trucks… dad always owned Fords for personal vehicles and switched to them for work trucks too when I was young. My first truck I still own, although it’s been wrecked for years. 00 Ranger that I got new. I found TRS shortly thereafter when I was trying to figure out how to add a tach, which ended up encouraging my desire to play with vehicles. Since my truck was new and expensive (for me at the time) to do anything much to, I ended up buying my 88 Bronco II from a former member on here for $340. The rest, as they say, is history. My collection of these wonderfully capable vehicles has been an adventure.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

I'm here because I had a fun little Bronco II that over time I ruined little by little.

I've ended up now with a hardcore crawler with a little bit of everything between that B2 and this thing.

Keep your mind like an umbrella, it only works if its open... Continually learning.
I do what I do because safety affects everyone.

I'm here because after buying my Ranger I needed some help with issues it had. I love the late 60s-mid 80s trucks (Chevys, Fords, Nissans, Toyotas, and some Dodges) I've never been a 2WD truck owner and have thought that it was a waste of time to have a 2WD. Still do in a way. 4WDs have always been a passion of mine. Its the best way to get away from all the stupid a$$hats in the city.

It’s funny you say that. I’ve always had that same feeling about 4wd. I have one now, and I’ll say it’s fun for a weekend romp, but is a huge waist for anything else else.

If I didn’t live somewhere where 98% of the roads were paved, I may see thing different.
