I bought truck with 134000 miles on it,got it home removed the bed to replace fuel filler hose, after installing hose it wouldn't start, fuel pump wasn't pumping, replaced relay and still wouldn't pump so I replaced fuel pump , fired right up .Keep in mind the only distance total driven thus far was may 5 miles ,the day I bought it I drove it home,ok after fuel neck hose, fuel pump replaced i drive it to work next morning truck ran great. At lunch I drive 1 mile and oil pressure gauge needle goes crazy and falls to nothing,at this time I'm thinking it was the sending unit had gone out because there was no engine rattle, ticks or knocks that may indicate oil pump failure. So I drive back to my job work rest of day and drive home I noticed a little tail pipe smoke then stop in little a puff of smoke ,cleard up drive on home still no noise engine. However I discovered that alternator was not putting out,now even more frustrated my only transportation is totally. 1 thing happening after another to this truck I've just payed to much money for to begin with plus parts labor and lots of aggravation so I put my battery on charge hopeing I could make it to parts house the next morning to purchase alternator, well about 2 miles down the road I noticed smoke ,I pulled over ,engine ticking like crazy now I'm really about ready to leave it and walk home but didn't and drove back home, now here I sit with no transportation, spent all the money I had saved up for a vehicle on that ranger that has been nothing but a burr in my side.
My question is? What to do, I cant afford to build the motor is there an alternative to fixing it or should I call the scrap yard? My answer is going to be inconclusive to the response of the Ranger Station thanks.
