I currently have a 4 inch rough country lift with 1.5 leveling spacers under my springs. I want to put a 3 inch body lift on but am uncertain what to do about the steering. I have a 4-6 inch drop pitman arm right now. My thought was to get a longer one that would reach the extra 3 inches with the body lift. Someone mentioned to me that the steering gearbox won’t be moved with the body lift because I’ll just be lifting the body. Is this correct? Open to any suggestions and comments. Thanks.

Yup, the steering extension with a body lift goes between the steering column and the steering box. My body lift came with the extension.

You can get them for your manual transmission shifter. Easy to make an extension for your manual t-case if applicable.

Ok that makes sense thanks a lot. Is there anything else that will need to be extended? Like the fuel filler neck?

There will be several things that will require adjusting, you'll come across them as you start lifting the body. Mostly brackets and a few other things. I'm not certain about the brake lines though, they may require lengthening, but don't quote me on that. Good luck with your build.
Welcome to the club.

95Rangerxl,

The front brake lines will tighten up. I bought a set of ss brake lines to replace the tight stock lines. I may be able to dig up the part numbers; they are still available as they are for Explorer, if I remember correctly.

Going from memory (its been 15 years) you just loosen the radiator hoses and reclock them. Front parking brake cable mount gets a new hole drilled and moved up 3" Fan shroud I think needed trimmed because the radiator moved up with the body. Steering extension obviously. Shifter extension is sold separately and I had to made the t-case extension which was easy. And of course bumper brackets are a gotta do, I made my front and it took me 15 years but I made a rear bumper that fit better.

That is all I remember. I didn't do anything to the brake lines.

I would be surprised if the instructions are not online so you can see exactly what they say to do before you jump in.

I recall the instructions did tell you to trim the fan shroud...

I lowered the shroud on mine instead (using thick pieces of sheetmetal to remount it to the radiator). Cutting it all up isn't gonna help the fan's ability to pull air through the radiator (and also the A/C condenser).
