Anyone know of a good source of automotive electrical connectors? My 88 has many corroded contacts and some connectors are even stuck together. I would like to replace with OEM style but if they are nla then my plan is to redo them all with new weatherproof connectors, possibly to the point of making the entire harnesses "quick connect".

I do that anyways. Volvo and GM connectors are my favorite by far. Especially volvo.

+1 for GM

I have never been around the Volvo ones but ag is Delco heavy and so is the general world so the GM connector components are everywhere. Every parts store and ag dealer has them in stock.

Until you drop the expensive little tool you will be hard pressed to find a fault with them. The tool always lands on the one end you use which ruins it... it never fails.

For most of the 80's Ford ones you can get housings in better condition from the JY and swap your wires to the new housing. There is a little tab you flex with a small screwdriver that unlocks the pin. Most of the time especially if it is visible that is what I do. If you need to you can get some pins from a parts store too, CG30 and CG31 are fairly common. Some you can't get.

I was planning on doing that with JY connectors but my local yards are usually stripped pretty clean unless its a euro. I'll look into the volvo and GM stuff.

Keep in mind Ford didn't make them for just a Ranger, you will probably find them on similar era vehicles too. And maybe even later model trucks somewhere else.

There was one three pin connector I needed I think it was when I added my cruise control. There were no first gens in the yard (par for the course anymore) but a couple second gens. They used the same housing for the windshield wiper motor on second gen trucks.

I just added prowireusa to my favorites... looks as if they are pretty proud of a few things but some decent prices in other places. Wish I would have had this site before I restocked a few items.

Edit... They have some good prices on weather pac (GM) connectors

I was thinking of going with weatherpac. Thats mostly what we use at work. I just wanted to look into other options as well. I hadnt heard of prowire before this thread.

So prowires deutsch connector builder is awesome. Ive also had good luck with this place in the past and they have a huge variety and a custom cable builder. https://ceautoelectricsupply.com/
