I think you are cute!
How: hit reply in the post you want to change, then edit the text to whatever you want.

Why: only the post editor could give you the true answer, but it is highly likely to yank someone's chain, but not necessarily the OP's chain.

See above example :p

How and why did you change my POST???
Your original post (that I quoted) is still intact, as you wrote it. The quote of said post, however, has been changed. Why? To get a bit of a rise out of the 2.9 lovers (and it clearly also got a bit of a rise out of you, which is a bonus).

Don't get your undies in a knot, it was meant in good fun.

I do seem to recall him getting riled up over a joke, but I don't recall what it was about. I do remember that he was none too happy about something that was said.

That would probably be a good idea.
Hug it out in dirtman's basement? 👍🏿

Yes, @CANADA does have an account. He (or she) joined in 2009, was last seen in 2011, lives in Manitoba (hidey-ho there, neighbour!), and only posted twice. Oh, and he owns a '94 regular cab with a short box, a 4.0, and a 5 speed.

Seems there are lots of ancient accounts around here (I wonder what ever happened to my (ancient, from 2002!) @85RangerInSK account?

Yes.

I'm under that even with forged everything.
What compression ratio did you go with? I know the original is 9:1 did you stick with that or change to a more boost friendly ratio? I'm thinking 8:1 at 1.1bar/16psi on pump gas. From the charts I've been looking at the stock 9:1 would get me to 8 or 9psi. If I'm going to buld this engine I might as well try to get 400 hp out of it. After driveline and accessories I'd have 350 at the wheels most likely.

Math says 8.35-8.6:1, all depends on the calculator I use. Thats on a 5.400 302 rod and stock 5.8 trinity piston.

Well, to shoot for the power you wanna try for, it seems like forced induction is going to be the direction you'll want to go. I would look at PJ's recommendations to setup your engine in that direction.

1987Ranger12394:

I generally say rebuild the 2.9L, I do not know what you need it to do but if I needed 400 @ the crank, I would seriously consider a 5.0 HO vs the expense of taking the little guy who can, to the wicked end.

On the other hand, if you could make use 30 or more mpg from your truck, improve the original 2.9.
